It's ironic that the 60's bands were anti-establishment, yet they wore suits or matching outfits when they performed. Here's the Beach Boys..
And the Stones

About 25yrs ago, on a Saturday evening, I was driving home from work... It was summer and it had been a warm day... Was looking forward to a few beers...
Just passing Crewe railway station, about to get onto a short stretch of Dual carriageway and I saw a "Youth" thumbing a lift... yeah, you guessed it, I stopped..
Turns out he is traveling the UK as the last part of his european travel and was getting short on funds... He asked me where there was a cheap hostel so he could have a shower as he hadnt found anywhere that wasnt too expensive or full for the past 3 nights...
We chatted away and I decided the best thing to do was to go back to my parents and take a look at the yellow pages... He reluctantly agreed...
So, we rocked up at my parents and I went in first, closely followed by Michael... I introduced him to my parents and mum spotted immediately the Aussie accent... She was naturaly curious and started chatting and asking him about Sydney and her sister moved there as a ten pound pomme... Well, they hit it off... Mum made a brew and I excused myself and dashed off to the shower..
Ten minutes later, There they were, sat outside drinking a cuppa tea, a huge pile of sandwiches on the table and a Bath towel draped over Micheal shoulders...
She stood up and asked me to show him to the bath room... I obliged..
My mum just sat there, looked me square in the eyes and said, Why did you stop to pick him up?
I shrugged my shoulders and said, Dunno, He looked friendly enough and knackered.
Well, he left our place about 3 days later having done some sight seeing with my mum and dad...
I dropped him at Manchester airport and he said that he would never forget such hospitallity... !! ( yeah yeah yeah...)
Well, every single christmas my Mum and dad got a Card from him and ahand written letter telling them the highs and lows of each year... Every January, My mum replied..
Anyway,Dec 2019, and no letter... but due to Mum being in a state of Limbo with cheamo etc, it slipped her mind... Dec 2020, again no letter, no card...
Today, Dad called me on Whatsapp and told me that he had received a card from Michael and appologised for not sendin a card last christmas, but he had been quite poorly in hospital...
So... Dad sent me a picture of the letter and as always "Hows Geoff and Lilly doing?"...
Well, after 2o minutes of googling around, I found a phone number... Someone will be getting a phonecall later!!
Lets see how it turns out!!!

What a lovely story. I hope you have a good catch-up. He'll be sad to hear about your Mum, but they gave each other years of pleasure exchanging their letters and that is a beautiful thing.
