If a white man and white women have a baby... the baby is called white.

If a black man and a black women have a baby... the baby is called black.

If a white man and a black woman, or black man and a white women have a baby...

Why is it called black?

Why not white?

This is a genuine question.

The answer is, to save time. No one wants to think about it, so they have a quick answer that they think is satisfactory.

I thought about it. The answer is not gonna please. The mixed race baby is called black because it isn't white. And white is considered the standard. Sorry about that. It doesn't mean I condone it. Just observing what is.

I'm pondering whether all straight men have a wandering eye and if some just hide it better than others. Or whether you can have a straight man without a wandering eye.

In some ways, having a gay daughter removes a lot of worry.

We have the assholes who coined the word octoroon to thank for this kind of thinking. It is all about a false sense of purity and whites only supremacy.

In the US today, that baby would be called multiracial.

@Chelski: it's something to do with slavery in the US.

Mark Twain’s novel "The Tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson" really drove the point home when a child with 1/32 black DNA was considered a slave... but if the same child was raised in a white family and nobody knew, was a Free and Privileged Person.

Until 25 years later the penny drops (fingerprints tell the tale) and the truth emerges. Although the babies in Pudd'nhead Wilson were interchangeable as infants, as adults they're forever permanently identified as Black and white. Their upbringing marks them indelibly: the 'Black' child has been raised with the airs and privileges of a Caucasian, while the 'white' child has been raised without an education or social graces.

Twain spares us none of the tragedy, but rubs it in.

Is there a special place in hell for people who use accent marks instead of apostrophes?

I sure hope so.

I really do not get how a bloke can have the gall to stand there and charge money for doing such an utterly crappy job and for all the other blokes to go along with it and pretend it is all ok. A woman would have been out on her ear half way through the first practice. The Boys' Club sucks. If you're not a member.

If no one missed you and no one is happy you're back, maybe you're just not a nice person and you should work on that. There is help for personality disorders.
