You know, I used to think I was here engaging with people who were online to discuss their real opinions, situations, and experiences. Now I see that some individuals come here just to shit stir and be disruptive.

What has to be wrong in your life to have irritating an entire community as your goal? Shouldn't you rather find a community where you can productively contribute?

I just feel so sorry for them. The human condition is fragile enough without actively trying to harm others.

I guess no one ever told them that caring for other people is the goal.

Shame that.

The difference between socialism and capitalism?  Here's one example..

Imagine your house is burning.

socialism is the fire department trying to save your home.

capitalism is the insurance company trying to deny your claim to your losses.

So, when you know full well you have been trashed left, right and center from the way people treat you like you (leper) and because the perp has to justify himself to them now the secret is out, how do you find out exactly what was said? No good asking them, because they apparently believe him and do not have the gumption to discuss it with you... My husband is just such a fake. How did I not see it for so long?

If Corona finished off the half-wits first, from the bottom up, would the world be a better place?

In an ideal world - yes.

In the world as it is- people come together to pay into an insurance- because alone socialism doesn’t work / it relies on all of us to pay - and many will say “ you pay. I don’t. Others will but not me.”

Somebody else’s socialism.

When is a computer hack - not a computer hack?

When there is no security....

If I leave the front door open and lose my wallet from the dinner table,

then it's classed as theft - but not burglary.

Quote

Local and federal authorities are investigating how a hacker was able to remotely gain access to a Florida city’s water treatment plant in an unsuccessful attempt at what could have amounted to a mass poisoning.

A mysterious hacker infiltrated a computer for the water treatment system of the city of Oldsmar, near Tampa, and briefly increased the amount of sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, by a factor of more than 100, the Pinellas county sheriff, Bob Gualtieri, said on Monday

Guardian reports attempted take over of Florida town water supply (Feb 8 2021)

However, a few days later the German IT magazone heise.de reports :

  • The desktop computers in the offices were all linked directly to the internet
  • They all ran Windows 7 (out of Microsoft maintenance last year)
  • They all had "Teamviewer" installed (although no longer used)
  • Shared the same password on Teamviewer to access the Water Works control systems

So was it a hack at all ???

Heise version (German)

Cyberscoop (English) with a chilling warning for anyone drinking water in America...

It's a good story.  Went out with a long succession of garbage, through no fault of its own.  Here it is again.

Our opposite neighbours have a dubious record of looking after their animals... and one of their excessively cuddly cats took refuge at various nearby addresses. He seduced us all with love. We never fed him. But he was in our hearts. We let him sleep over in Winter. The other neighbour took him regularly to the vets for jabs when he became chronically ill. His owners would never have taken him or stumped up the cash. "They never asked anything of anyone" was their retort when the subject was broached. Eventually the cat died. They buried him on public ground next to our house, where he fell. A couple of days later, one of the kids rang my bell and asked for a bucket of earth from our garden. They have no garden. So I duly obliged. Then thought to ask why they needed a bucket of earth... I was unaware still that the cat was a gonner. The earth was to cover the half dug up much loved cat from its shallow, inadequate "grave". That's how I found him. Appalled and distressed, we dug him up and buried in our garden. The neighbour came and said a prayer over him while I wept. She has since "cancelled" us - because - wait for it - we STOLE her cat's mortal remains. Kid you not. True story.

I am not a lawyer. But I am a body snatcher.

Easter egg anybody?

From today at home..

Sponge does not belong in trifle and cheese has absolutely no business being on crumpets (personally I'd also go as far as Jam as well)..

(There was a discussion a few weeks ago about the fact that baked beans on pasta is just so wring there are no words for it. I put it down to cultural differences..

Homemade crumpets with melted brie and chilli jam are good.  So too Pasta e Fagioli.  But Heinz??

Not specifically, but the same type of thing.

I said that in the UK this was grounds for a split and if the Mrs went in to court saying that, I would get full custody as she would obviously be crazy in the eyes of the court..
