This is what happens when you sell off the transport system for profit.

I don't know enough about how public transport is financed in the UK to have an opinion on whether it being public would make a difference. I only feel the effects of increasing number of passengers without a corresponding increase in capacity. They could dig those tunnels in the 19th and 20th century, but for some reason, they can't manage to do that now. What's clearly absurd at any rate, is for this Ben Goldsmith dude to blame the EU for the state of public transport in London. What gives?

What gives - apart from him being just another xenophobic ranter who's clearly never experienced peak time Tokyo public transport - is that the UK's policy is to concentrate its resource in one area (London & South East).  London gets most transport investment and there's a fair bit of recent development.

I lived in London in the early 90s.   The inner part was really unpopular.   You were generally thought really stupid or desperate to want to live and so only the marginalised tended to: the poorer,  lowpaid (which tended to be public sector and creatives back then), single, gay.   Every mainstreamer with life options beat it out of there asap, to the suburbs.   And to be fair, aspects of it were limited.   I remember that London.   It was one of remainder bookshops, Pizza Hut for dinner, BurgerKing on Leicester Square if you wanted a coffee after about 6pm.  That sort of thing.   When my cohort settled there, much property could barely be given away (which is why we settled there).

So he's being highly selective.   Times have changed.   The fashionable choice of inner city living started in the late 90s.    Before that, it'd been practically the opposite for several decades - suburbia ruled.

Keith Mills @KeithMillsD7 Dec 3

Why should a speech by a television personality with no scientific qualifications like David Attenborough lead the @BBCNews? This dumbing down/personality based news reporting is dragging us all down. It's not like there aren't some real news stories to report.

Pretty sure that David Attenborough has a degree in Natural Sciences and studied geology and zoology at Clare College, Cambridge.

Hi Raheem @sterling7 - want to come on @GMB to discuss racism in football? Don't agree with everything you say about it, but I admire you for speaking out & can promise a very fair hearing. I'm keen to be a force for good in this debate, not a barrier to change. Piers

A fair hearing!  He's the abused, not the accused.

Why the media is unable to report on a case that has generated huge interest online

An awful crime. The person is guilty. But we can’t publish the story.

Yes, one can always find out.    Often they even open comments that basically tell you.  They are also currently juxtaposing a story about a stalker with a fake pregnancy bump next to two articles about a high profile pregnant woman, hardly subtle .

No you are going to have to yourself break free of the Google prison and seek it yourself. I am not going to do it for you. I live in a parallel world to you here most of whom get their news from CNN. None of us "believe" in theories we think for ourselves. When you do the same, good luck.

As a start, if you heard Sundar Pichai of Google yesterday, which 99% of TT sheep ignored, he dropped huge lies there. I suggest alt search engines like DuckDuckGo my break your mindset. Do it yourself.
