Michael Collins, Apollo 11 Command Module pilot, is dead at the age of 90.

They called him the loneliest man alive...

Can you imagine orbiting the moon alone, and being above the dark side back in 1969

when your nearest two humans are on the lit side and EVERYONE else is back on their own

planet a quarter of a million miles away.

Crossing an ocean pales into insignificance by comparison.

Q: What were you thinking when your colleagues were out there making cosmic history?

A: I just kept reminding myself that every single component in this spacecraft was provided by the guy who submitted the cheapest tender.

Olympia Dukakis has died. She won an Oscar for Moonstruck with Cher but played so many excellent roles.

(I don't know why I'm not allowed to edit this title)

Juan Joya Borja (5 April 1956 – 28 April 2021) was a Spanish comedian and actor known by the stage name El Risitas. He gained widespread popularity in 2015 thanks to a series of memes based on a television interview he did from 2001 on Jesús Quintero's show Ratones coloraos.

Why should we have to do that? Never was required before.

Could it be because this topic was started by "Guest"?

I tried, after logging out and logging back in, but it didn't work.  Apparently, the forum software thinks the thread is over 5,000 days old.

sorry I couldn't have been of more assistance :(

I dunno if it's because the topic was started by Guest.  One way to check would to be to try to change the titles of other topics started by a Guest.

I can't check this for reasons that are maybe obvious (like not seeing the same screen--I am still allowed to edit the topic).  The forum software remains a mystery to many of us.

If it's really the case that topics started by former members are judged by the software to be obsolete, then maybe start a new topic, lamentable though that may be to the 92 pages here.  Still, it's a current events thread of sorts, so maybe also not the end of the world.

Did you open all windows at home, close them and try again?

This might be the problem.  I tried on a much newer thread by Guest.

Perhaps you could copy the contents of the first Guest post into Tor's post and delete the Guest post (or move it to the dead post graveyard).  This would keep the thread alive.
