Mods - why was my topic deleted from the forum without any explanation?

The title says it all. Thanks.

If it's your question about the estate agent showing your flat, it was merged with an existing thread with the same subject.

If you're ever missing a post, go to your profile (click your name next to a post or in the top center of the screen) and click "Find Posts".

this has all changed with the new forum software, noticing the mods are no longer merging threads and under your profile it only shows followed topics. If you click on a persons name it only shows the most recent posts and such

That used to be TTs big strength, rather than having a dozen threads on the same question the mods used to merge it and keep it clean. We used to also encourage people to search rather than starting a new thread. This days someone joins TT starts a new thread with a question that's been answered 15 times. Just saw it today, Meitpriesbremse. There are now several threads going, why not merge it into one.

It's not convenient and against human nature. Merging threads is a waste of time because forum threads are not Wikipedia articles, 90% answers are trash while only 1 or 2 answers are useful and not yet outdated.

Exactly the reason why Facebook is such a success: so many people hate this idea of Ordnung which is everything but order (like in a book or encyclopedia).

Search function and merging the most useful answers (not entire threads) should be done by AI, automatically.

Agree but the emphasis used to be on doing a search and adding to a thread. We now have several threads on the rental brake both recent. Before the person woull have been admonished to do a search first before starting a new thread.

And that advice is not always accepted  well!

Also, have you noticed that newcomers often start with " I did search, but  my case is Unique"!
