What is a Minidish?

10 posts in this topic

I have a question that is probably best answered by Satman. I have heard from my friends about a satellite receiver that uses a very small dish that could be put on the window !!

Is it the Minidish?

If not, then what really is the Minidish?

I would really appreciate any clarifications.

thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply.

Is it possible to acquire the Minidish in Germany and at what cost?

I live close to Frankfurt am Main.

best regards

rajeev

PS: I hope the Minidish also works for TV programs other than the ones from Sky B)

Hang on a minute ...

You'll have little chance of picking up ITV/BBC on a minidish. And it doesn't just stick to the window.

Uhm??

A properly installed mini dish in Frankfuht will give BBC ITV and all Astra2D channels, IF fitted correctly.

There is a small Brass coloured screw underneath the LNB which needs to be set in the correct possition, NOT the factory setting.

A spectrum analyzer is needed for perfect alignment, but I realise that not many lay folk have such items, But my mate Günther has !!!

Satman.

my flat is in an east -west axis with no windows or openings to the south, balcony due west, can a minidish help with getting a signal to my tv (plus the usual gear of course) Area Frankfurt.

Hi,

Unlikely, But before you hang yourself or resign yourself to the Pub each night... Give Günther a call, he will come and do a site survey for you.

I don't have a minidish, I live in Uelzen, sort of between Hamburg/Hannover.

Dragged a bog standard 85cm dish up onto my roof, and I get BBC1,2,3 and 4.

Weird thing is a lot of the programmes are the same ones I was watching when I left the UK 12 years ago. Thought all those people like Terry Wogan etc.. would have been dead by now
