On that topic, just saw a newspaper headline about chaos with the €49 tickets and a mention of Schwarzfahrer. How can that happen?

Chaos - unbelievable amounts.

Schwarzfahrer - presumably because on a long trip, you might have mostly local trains and then a 20 minute slot of an Unternehmer that you're not sure belongs to the 49€ or not. Or an ICE train that you know isn't included and you don't buy a ticket for that stretch so become a short term schwarzfahrer, I suppose.

Kid#3 had it at the weekend - she has a 49€ ticket, in fact 2, because the first one failed, so she did it again, and then the first one revived itself and charged her again and she can't get through to whoever sorts these things on the phone (chaos) - she was travelling to the Harz to meet up with a colleague to motorbike a bit, and one stretch was a company she couldn't see on the app, so she winged it (possible Schwarzfahrer).

In her case, all was good. Except she missed her stop and went too far 🫤
