From a couple of days ago - I was in Copenhagen last week Thursday - Sunday attending the 2-day Plenary

Meeting of the International Gliding Commission IGC - the top body of the sport of gliding.

Anyhow - during the various conversations in the breaks & evenings one topic came to some competition that

took place in Argentina.  Apparently at the barbecue the announcement was made "and for vegetarians we have chicken".

Anyhow - next year our meeting is probably in Toulouse (thinks: a visit to Airbus could be part of the trip).

Misread that as 'planetary meeting' and was mind-blown

The fact we're expected to agree with the supposed philosophical musings of a green frog puppet does't help disprove this...

"Protesters rally against a non-existent drag event"

Quote

Protesters stood outside an empty pub on Friday morning to rally against a non-existent drag event.

Turning Point UK had organised a demonstration at The Great Exhibition pub in East Dulwich for 11:00 GMT.

A counter protest was organised by Stand up to Racism South London, with local people and pro LGBT+ activists meeting at 10:00 GMT.

The Turning Point UK protest was organised in response to an out of date event listing on the pub's website.

...

Around 200 people were seen outside the pub and Met Police officers were in attendance.

...

"Drag as an artform is a time honoured cultural phenomenon in the British theatre lexicon, from early passion plays and Shakespeare, to Dame Edna Everage, drag performance has been part of our heritage since the 1500s, and just like all performance, there are, within the genre, different types of content that's created for different age groups, this is true of every artform."

I love this young Indian couple's  flummoxed reaction to how/where/ when the English/ British etc conquered here and there. They are so youthfully curious! Bless them❤️

My Duolingo app mispronounced the German for hairdresser.

Instead of Friseurin, I definitely heard

"Frise-Urin"

This AI stuff isn't perfect yet!

TV subtitles can be comic too.  Not sure what Putin´s nor Sergei Lavro´s reactions were to this

@HH Sailor  (how do you do the low line thingy?) My DearOne's mother got him a phrase book when he first went to Germany. I had a look at it and and couldn't quite believe it was for real. The phrases had "phonetic" German, and really - reading it out you sounded like what could only be described as a joke accent; like if you wanted to make fun of how a Brit spoke German. Was reminded of that also seeing the map of Germany on the "What made you laugh" thread, or wherever it was posted.

The underscore character is coded as ASCII 95.

On a windows PC you press and hold the alt key,

Then type 95 using the numberpad (you won't see numbers)

Finally , release the alt key.

Otherwise, my Android phone has it between the euro symbol and the ' &'

Hope that helps!

@john g. You have put up a few of this kind of films where young people show they have no knowledge of history. To me it's not a smiling matter. I get depressed.:( Have to quote the professor in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" - "I wonder what they do they teach them in those schools".
