I've often referenced "My Mate Down the Pub" in my posts. He's a bit of a Del Boy.

 

Apparently, he travelled over to the UK in November for a 'Christmas Shop'. Eventhough his car was searched at Dover (no drugs, no illegal weapons found; the mirror under the car and a sniffer dog etc) he still managed to come home with a big chuck of British beef (Xmas dinner), pigs in blankets, bacon, sausages, steak pies, chicken pies, pork pies and scotch eggs. Alledgedly.

 

He said his German wife came up with a cunning plan (though he's never explained it to me) and it worked. Alledgedly.

 

He'd decided to freeze the scotch eggs and pork pies (after copious of googling in advance) despite the manufacturers saying no.

 

Tonight he tested a scotch egg (defrosted in the fridge for 24hrs) and said:

Like taken off the shelf at Sainsburys. It felt fresh once I'd unravelled the foil and clingfilm. Zero freezer burn. Left it for 5mins to room temperature. Texture, flavour and meat as expected. Egg a little bit rubbery but who cares about the egg? I just wanted the meat. Yummy.
