Hank is getting up there in age and needed a way to get up and down the stairs.

This was custom made just for him! Hank is estimated between 7-9 years of age.

Ah, I was boiling water with some frozen fish ( cod ) for the cat and forgot all about it. I thought I´d look at the sky and maybe water some plants...the kind of stuff I think and do when I don´t know what to think and do..and then: a loud ( but really bloody loud ) erm, noise, from the cat:translation: that smells good! I smiled..yep, it´s yours, baby.

Took an 85 year old lady to the toilet today (work in an old peoples home), she stood, facing the toilet, I asked if she wanted to turn around or pee standing up...she grinned, and said "one is never too old to try something new" ...

laughed my head off!...

Ah, andeyeroo..that does remind me of about 25 years ago when I was talking to a young German social worker (his thing instead of doing the military conscription thing) and he told me of the wheelchair-bound 85 or something year old lady in his care and how her son, in his 60s and also in a wheelchair, came to visit her.

 

At the end of their meeting and as the elderly son was leaving, the mother said " brav bleiben " (behave yourself ). I still smile when I remember that! :)

My gran passed away relatively early, and in the time after he became close friends with one of the ladies in his old folks' home. Things were becoming more and more serious between the two of them, so my grandad (75 at the time) told his daughters (my mum included), but confessed he felt a bit nervous about going to tell his own mum (98 at the time).

last night the cute little 1 year old loading her box of snacks into my shopping cart (trolley for you islanders) and then pushing said cart away with her.

years ago when I was 12-31ish our family, my cousin (same age) and my dad's parents (mom and step-dad) went traveling and stopped to vist my step grandad's mom (in her 80s or 90s I suppose). Anyway my late 40ish dad went out to the car for a while and after noticing he was gone the mom asked "where did that other little boy go?" my cousin and I still crack up when we remember that.

I've noticed this before but today I get around to writing this up...

 

I filled my car up with diesel this evening at a nearby Shell Tankstelle (being a company car I'm tied to using Shell or Esso...).

 

Anyhow since diesel stinks most Tankstelle have a roll of plastic bags with some sort of hand or glove imprint in order to keep the smelly stuff off yor fingers. Often these bags require endless patience to find the opening...

 

In the case of this Tankstelle its actually easy to open the bags - only the print of a hand on the bag is the wrong way around - if you try to open it where the wrist is portraid thats the end which is closed - the finger tips end is open!
