WW2 bomb found

5 posts in this topic

A 500 kg. British bomb was found near the airport and A3 today around 15:30. All landings were stopped and the area evacuated. They tried to defuse it, but it didn't work, so it looks like they blew it up around 21:30 or so. Planes have begun landing again at 22:00, so it must have worked.

The link from the city of Wiesbaden. The area around it up to 500 meters has been evacuated and they are supposed to defuse it tonight at 20:00

Thanks for posting those links. So that's why most of the traffic in downtown Wiesbaden near the old messe that's being demolished is blocked.

We just returned from walking to the main train station to purchase train tickets and walked down Bahnhofstrasse and back and saw all the road blockages, police details, and traffic backed up.

We were wondering what the hell is going on, we thought perhaps Angela Merkel is in town.

The only traffic they are letting through are some busses, everything else is blocked off in a large radius of the old Meese.

Damn, there goes our plans for going out this evening.
