English-speaking Therapist/Psychologist in Leipzig

13 posts in this topic

Hello.

I am looking for an English-speaking therapist or psychologist in or around Leipzig who accepts DAK insurance.

I have found some in Berlin, but that is a bit too far for me to travel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks.

Hello there, although I am of no help to you, I share in your search. I am looking around Erfurt for an english speaking Psychologist who takes perhaps the travel insurance I have invested in. Good luck with it, any help for both of us would be greatly appreciated :)

evilee, as travel insurance won't cover you as a resident, no psychologist will "accept it" as such. Any bills you would pay presumably upfront and then get reimbursed. And I would guess that if travel insurance would cover you for psyhological treatment at all, then only for an emergency which couold conceivably occur while you are travelling. But you need to check with your policy/insurer in this case, not with the doctor/psychotherapist.

And for SammyL: I did a search of therapists in Leipzig who speak English and accept public insurance:

No, I'm afraid I am not in that geographical area, and it is not so easy to filter for specific doctors as for therapists. But if you are trying to use travel insurance for this as well, you are likely to encounter problems here too. Since it looks like you are a resident, why not attend to your proper insurance first, and then your doctors' visits will be covered. You'll have to backpay on insurance anyway once they catch you as it is a legal requirement for residents. So why not get it upfront and then you can actually use it.

I see a good English-speaking therapist at the Uniklinik (http://psychiatrie.uniklinikum-leipzig.de/). There are about 5 there that speak English well enough to treat native English speakers. It is really difficult to make an appointment there because they have one secretary and she rarely answers the ringing phone. I had to physically go to the clinic to make am appointment, and they choose the doctor for you (just specify an English speaker). You also need a referral from your regular doctor to see a therapist or psych doctor.

I personally recommend Stefano Massa from Italy he's also really good with people and speaks English, I don't have his number, I still meet him through Thirtymins here's the link to get an appointment or sending a message https://thirtymin.com/mr/#/11141

Hey guys, I am new here! I found the topic really helpful. As soon as I signed up some months ago I searched for a professional between Halle and Leipzig because that's where I live and work, somebody that speaks English or French. My mother is South American grown in USA and my father from Lyon. I have seen three psychologists that are mentioned here already. It's not easy to get along with everybody for me I have to be honest, the last one I've seen on the list is dr. Massa in Halle and I found my self at home in his studio. I'm gonna stick with him because of the way he makes me feel. He really has a way of saying things in such a way, you can clearly hear his experience in his words. He makes me understand what is going on with many of my daily struggles and being transgender. He's teaching me how to be open with problems in general through different programs and exercises, I'm very happy somebody shared his contact on this page. I wanted to try out if it was for real and share out the positive experience that I had so far and hopefully, this is useful for some other crazy traveler like me,

Thank you all for sharing,

Happy life to all of You,

Santiago

I contacted Mr. Demetris and he told me that he doesn't accept public insurance (like DAK which has been mentioned above), only private one. That was ok with me because I have private but some people are looking for public. Anyhow, if you have private health insurance you could contact him here: https://www.demetrisnicolaides.com
