Ladies who Lunch!

41 posts in this topic

Hi :)

My name is Katie, I'm 25 and have been in Hamburg for about 10 weeks now, leaving behind my job and friends in Manchester, UK :(

I moved here to be with my boyfriend who is an engineer in the city and I'm definitely missing having my own circle of friends to socialise with (his friends are lovely, but there's only so much wind-turbine talk a girl can take..!) So I wondered if there was anyone who maybe fancied meeting up for coffee, or lunch or even a dog walk sometime?? I'm pretty easy going and would be open to other suggestions and I'm very interested in exploring Hamburg a little more as I haven't really had chance to do so yet.

I'm just about to start an "intensive" German course but it doesn't appear to be all that intensive so I will still have lots of spare time during the week as well as at weekends.

My German is currently pretty terrible, but I can order a cappucino and I know where to find cake, so please please do get in touch if you fancy a meet up! Thanks!

:)

Hi Katie, my name's Klara, I'm 24 and in pretty much the same boat as you!!I moved here a few weeks ago to join my boyfriend who works out here, and like yourself, I'm definitely missing having my friends around, especially with all the free time I have in my hands at the moment. It would be great to meet up with someone in the same situation as me and have a coffee/lunch/cocktail... Whereabouts are you living in Hamburg? I'm in Sternschanze. Klara

Hi Klara! We've just moved to Niendorf, so I'm right at the end of the U2 line which I know runs through Schlump- is that anywhere near you? :) Would love to meet for a coffee or some lunch sometime- feel free to email me at taylorkatie88@gmail.com as my PM doesn't seem to be working very well on here :)

Hi,

I hope you are well and have settled into Hamburg well...?

I, like yourself am very new to this country, moving here from London with my boyfriend two months ago. I absolutely love the weekends, as currently have friends and family visting (the novelty of a city break with free boarding, i guess  ) ...the weeks are very different - I left behind a life that I loved with great friends, a good job and days full of laughter - to create what can currently be described as a little "hermit" like life. I am really struggling with the language, and yet to enroll on a course (have you started yours yet - where is it, and have you found it useful???)so I find myself shying away from normal day to day activities.

I would love to meet up with you over a glass of wine in the near future and make the most of this beautiful weather!

I live on Pailmaille, just along the port...and found the most amazing beach bar, even if we dont meet up you should visit called Strand Pauli.

Anyways, I have rambled enough.

Have a great weekend, Jo x

"Strand" Pauli sounds like a great place! :D

I've been here for a few months and would love to meet knew people! I've had a few months of German now (A2 level test tomorrow) and would be happy to talk about the school that I'm going to if you're interested!

Hi!!

Sorry it's been a few weeks since I was last on TT but luckily I've only missed two posts :) yay.

I started my German course about 3 weeks ago now and just as I'm starting to get into the swing of it, they announced the 6 week summer break as of next week- typical! But this aside, it's pretty laid back and the people I'm studying with are very lovely! :)

I still don't seem to be able to send message on here :/ but if you want to use my email above to arrange something, I always check it in the evenings so will get back to you the same day- (and I completely agree, the weekdays are can easily become the lonely bits!)

Hope to hear from you soon :)

Katie

Hi,

I just arrived in Hamburg and although I'm only staying 6 weeks (taking an intensive German course) I would love to meet up! I'm 24, from the USA and I can already tell I will miss having friends and a normal social life. I'll be free afternoons/evenings and on most weekends. Just would like to make my short time here as fun and non-hermit-like (ie: lonely) as possible!

Let me know if anyone would be interested in getting coffee, lunch or whatever really...I'm pretty laid back.

Christine

Hi Ladies!

My name is Lindsay, I'm 23 years young, and I am also from the United States. I'm moving to Hamburg August 6th, and would love to meet as many other english speaking ladies as possible...it would be great to have a shopping partner, lunch partner, and possibly even a running partner if any of you run!?!

Would anyone be up for lunch this Friday, Aug 2nd? I too have heard of this Strand Pauli place, but have yet to go. Shall we check it out? I'll suggest 1:00pm but am open to other ideas. Post below if you're up for joining, so we know who's going and how many, and I'll make a reservation if I can.

Unfortunately, due to the extremely warm and sunny weekend coming up, I will be at the Baltic!

Can we do Thursday? If not, I will be there at the next one.

Strand Pauli is great, especially with good weather!

Since the Baltic is not in North America I suggest that you update your profile :)
