I just can't seem to find... buying hard-to-track-down items

@engelchen in my neighborhood, TP is sold out on the same day it's delivered, in every store I go to.  That's why I need a "plan."

I know on Saturday a very friendly woman mentioned that Rossman had tons while I was looking at the rows of empty shelves at Edeka. Edeka received a delivery on Monday morning.

I see two issues with your plan:

1. I don't think every store receives inventory at the same time. My local stores probably have a different delivery schedule than yours.

2. I hear that that employees don't know what they are actually going to get until they unload the truck. The poor girl at Edeka apologised because they didn't receive what they ordered for Saturday.

I would suggest to ask someone stocking shelves at your local store when they are expecting a delivery and hope what you want is on the truck.

1. probably, but doesn't hurt to ask/compare notes

2. Saturday seems to be a day when a lot of stores get shipment, but for what may be obvious reasons, I'm looking to avoid shopping on a Saturday.

Good to know about your Edeka.  Someone else thought maybe all stores in a chain get shipment on the same day which didn't seem probable to me either.  My local Edeka gets shipment on Thursday and Saturday, this I know.  But the store is well-managed.  When the shipment comes, everything that is missing is delivered.  These days it just doesn't stay on the shelf very long.

Anyone seen IZAL TP ?  I need some nostalgia !

Nostalgia I could do without.  We had something similar at primary school.  I used to walk from about 5 years old.  Slipped in dog diarrhea.  Short dress on, legs liberally covered with it.  Teachers not interested, so I just did my best (smearing it around mostly) with the hard loo roll.  At least the disinfectant smell helped a bit.

Are Altoids available in Germany?

I have never seen them, but so often find that I am just an idiot, and they have been there all the time and obvious to everyone else.

Mostly I want them for the tins, so a recommendation of a thing which comes in a similar tin and is not too expensive would be just as useful.

Thank you.

Any eggos in this town?  I want the blueberry kind.
Also, strawberry Haagen Daaz?   The strawberry cream one is disgusting.
Desperate right now for a fix.

I have never seen Eggos in Germany, nor any other brand of frozen waffles.

Petition to sell Eggos in Germany

According to this link they don‘t have „strawberry“ in Germany, just „strawberries & cream“ and „strawberry cheesecake“:

https://www.kaufda.de/insights/alle-haeagen-dazs-sorten-die-es-in-deutschland-gibt-in-einer-liste/

(I have no idea whether this list is accurate.)

Has anybody seen Denby tableware? Wanted to order some dinner plates from John Lewis but they don't deliver these items internationally and I can't find a list of stockists . Wayfair.de also has some if I can't get it "live".

Happy 1. Advent!

Thanks, I'll look.

It'd still be nice if any store stocked it, or other UK brands even such as Portmerion. I love looking at tableware!

I have had items delivered from John Lewis.

I checked Denby UK- they ship to Germany and even have promo codes on their site.

I also bought some items of Portmeiron on Amazon.

Happy Shopping .

Just a thought. If there are going to be customs restrictions and/or complications and/or new charges from 1.1.21 because of the UK's exit from the EUCU, then Amazon DE, or German and other EU websites in general, may become more popular rather than UK based sites.

Not sure what is going to happen with orders placed this year, but delivered next year.

I've had other items from JL but maybe it's because plates are breakable? Crockery isn't listed on their FAQ list of non deliverable items.  I tried sending them an email to ask but you need an order number before it will send! Might do a chat tomorrow if I can be bothered

I looked on the Denby site but strangely the same plates were a lot more expensive ...

I don't think customs are an issue, yet.

Hahaha Thank you so much @martinamr.   Moments of weakness and confusion amidst various lockdowns.  You're very kind for answering me twice.

Great taste! I have a Denby Halo set back in DE, was worried about it getting smashed if I stuck it in my suitcase so it's with all my other stuff that is waiting for Covid to bugger off so that I can do something about getting it moved to the UAE.

In the interim, I ordered a Royal Doulton Pacific Splash set from Amazon US, which arrived without anything chipped or broken, so it seems that Amazon US stock some British brands and will ship crockery worldwide so maybe they will have Denby as well? The other option might be the dessertcart or honestforwarder sites, if they have one for Germany.

There are tasty ice creams in Germany :-)

Maybe try different brands to find a strawberry flavor that you like ;-)
