Gynecologists and obstetricians in Munich

Hey all you ladies out there. I know a great doctor - she is in Aubing but not too hard to get to by public transportation. She is German but speaks great English since she spends a lot of time in the States. Plus, I didn't wait more than 15 minutes because she seems to be very concientious about keeping her appointments.

Dr. Eva Maria Steinherr

Fachärztin für Frauenheilkunde

Tel 089 871 1515

Riesenburgstr. 40

81249 Aubing - Munich

Aubing is a stop on the S4 west of the city.

Dr Röder is a gynaecologist, yes.

My normal doctor is near my house.

The "Specialities" might be from the other dr she shares the practice with, dr rüssmann or whoever.

i'd like to add here that i've never needed a shrink! (yet)

Hi

should you want a very specific type of gynaecological treatment, particularly in the case of endocrine disorders or fertility problems (IVF etc), contact Dr Peter Berg and Dr Bernd Lesoine in Bogenhausen who both speak fluent English as well as French, Spanish...

these are very clever gents and are probably the top address in Munich for this specialisation. This is not the practice to visit for a bog-standard check-up and pill prescription though.

called up UrbanAngel's recommendation and the first thing they asked was how are you insured? they accept new patients which is good (at my last city, it took 4 phone calls to find one), my first appointment is however in June! does one have to do with the other? she said one has nothing to do with the ohter, but i wonder.

called up kitkat's recommendation, appointment was first made, is on april 2 (!) but she also inquired about my insurance, but only after appt was made.

we women know how important a good ob-gyn is. thanks for the recommendations.

Hi Elfenstar!

It's pretty much the same everywhere when you want to register, they always ask how you are insured. I'm actually privately insured (one of the perks of my job!) and they said for your first appointment there's a wait of 3 months tops. I don't know why, but it's only for your first appointment. After that you can get appointments a bit easier.

Anyway, good luck with everything.

For a gynocologist, lots of people have recommended:

Dr. Silke Dabelstein

Promenadeplatz 12/IV

80333 Munich

Tel: 296971

I've never seen her myself, but a friend of mine was very happy with her. And her English is supposedly excellent.

Hi all! I'm due to join my husband in Munich on the 17th Dec. but had just last week found out in London that I have something that needs rescanning in a month to 6 weeks' time and they recommended I did this in Munich as there won't be time over here (passing the problem along?).

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for good gynaecologists, and preferably someone that I wouldn't have to wait months and months to see because the doc said that I shoudn't hang around to deal with it. The insurance situation is that as I'm only just moving over I'll be on state insurance as with a pre-exisiting condition I won't be able to get the private insurance we'd planned.

Any help at all with this would be very greatfully received as I'm lurching into a medical abyss at the moment. Thank you!

have been with Dr. Hildescheid (as mentioned above) for more than 10 years now!!! She's lovely..her English is impeccable. They even have English-language magazines in the waiting room... hand cream and perfume in the loo... cookies, coffee and juice in the waiting room too!

And whenever I've had a 'downstairs problem' that's caused me a bit of worry she's been great at reassuring me. :D

Hi all,

my husband and I are moving to Munich in March, and I will be about 5+ months pregnant by then. I was wondering if any of you know of a good, English-speaking OB doctor in Munich. I'm a bit nervous about moving this late in my pregnancy. Also, I'd love to have a group of women to hang out with when we finally get there. I'm used to working, and now I'll be a stay-at-home wife/mom.

Thanks for your help!

Teresa

I mentioned a doctor above who I have not yet seen. I have heard really good things about her, and I have an appointment with her next week. I'll get back to you then and let you know what I think of her.

Not to worry, you're not the only one about to arrive. I'm getting to Munich this Friday and will also still be finding my feet by March. I haven't met anyone off this board yet, but most of the posters have been very friendly and helpful and they seem to all have a great TT social life.
