Well done, YL6!! I still wouldn´t know how to find my first post! That hasn´t changed!!! Mind you, I learnt to use the space bar ( thanks, NoBullJim!!).

I believe that was my issue with your early posts... I even offered to buy you a space bar for Christmas... ;)

That's quite scary, Toytown has been part of my life since I came here in 2003. Apart from being an indispensable resource for all manner of strange questions and a very scary place in general it has also been a great platform to get unbiased opinions on my art and most importantly of all is responsible for me finding my natural father and siblings.

Cheers Ed Bob and cheers Toytown.

t and most importantly of all is responsible for me finding my natural father and siblings.

Which remains one of the absolute best threads on TT.

Wow!!

I have learned so much from being on this site. I tell my husband, I read "this" and "that" on TT. He has family that has lived here all of their lives, and I am able to pass on info they didn't know.

So, double Wow!!

And, I have met (though through the threads and PMs) some wonderful people and have felt happiness, frustration, sadness and much more with their posts. It has become, in a short time, a Community. To the extent of me wanting to send positive thoughts to those in need and sharing my gripes with those dealing with similar situations. We are all unique, but the same. And, it is wonderful that we have a place to share and be thankful for one another.

So, another heartfelt cheers to Ed Bob, Moderators and the TT Family.

So do any of you old timers remember another forum before Toytown? When I was in Augburg, I used to be on a forum like Toytown, but that was around 1996/1998. It was so much like Toytown, that I kept searching for my old user-id on Toytown when I came back in 2008. It took me a while to figure out that Toytown wasn't around then.

I found TT in 2005, and read a lot of the threads and learned a lot about the process of moving to Germany, which in part helped to make my move as smooth and painless as it was.

I joined it in 2007, and actually, I'm now noticing that I joined 3 days after my husband left to go back to the UK, which is funny because I was recently thinking about that time and how low I felt. But I started going to TT events and very quickly got a pile of new friends to do stuff with. I owe a lot to TT, not just for the thread-reading entertainment (Bobo and his lightbulb problem still a fond favourite) but also for making my social life so much richer.

So happy anniversary to its creators :)

Good man, YL6! Thanks for starting this thread!

Does anyone remember their first post? I bet it was pathetic...

Yes, John, I have to admit it, my first post was pathetic...

Hello Toytown greets2Noddy+BigEars

@Calender21

I would suggest you contact the Frankfurt Stadt Forstamt,City Forestry Office.(Number's from 2000 so maybe out of date now.(069 212 33117)

There are about 12 Local Forstamter and you can buy wood and so on directly from many of them routinely although most are located on the southern outskirts of Frankfurt as that is where the trees in the Stadtswald and Sachsenhausenerwald are growing. ;-)

Here is also a number in Neu-Isenburg for the TANNENWALD which is probably where you'd find plantations of Xmas trees. (06102 800390)

I'm sure the City of Frankfurt would appreciate your custom and it's probably cheaper for you than a private business may charge. Good Luck.

I was a virtual internet idiot, clueless about posting links or finding websites, but keen to help.

I posted contact tel. numbers I'd copied from a 9 year old phone book!

2nd post was 3 days later, but when I checked the thread that night I thought I was back in the infants class.

Someone had pinned a gold star on it!

This was a job well done by Editor Bob & Malcolm Spudbury!!

Congratulations ToytownGermany!!

Cheers to all you TTers!!

You are probably remembering "Auf Wiedersehen Net" which was a forum hosted on www.network54.com - it started out in 1996 and was also known as "AWN" or the "Britboard"

Here's a snapshot from 2001 - you'll see some of the forum topics there bear a close resemblance to many we get here today.

If you leave your post there this time YL6, mine will make sense:

The Britboard was its own entity, founded by Spudbury, sold to Bob in 2006. Not related to AWN. Heh heh, "arose out of" it -- well, members left AWN and founded their own thing. I wonder if the AWN guy was ever mad that Spuds registered the domain name.

Class of 05 here. I was part off another board but will not mention it. This site was and is a hell of a lot better than them. I remember meeting Hurricane at Munich bar and she recommending TT. Did not realize at the time that half of the board seemed to hang out at Twisted Bav so I knew them before I got to know them. The fantasy football league allowed me to know them...again.

Speaking of the Twisted Bavarian, what happened to all the people that contributed to The Twisted Bavarian - Latest updates very old thread?
