We play badminton at Sportzentrum Martinsried, just to the south-west of Munich, on Tuesdays between 19:00 and 21:00.

Note that although the address is Planegg, the sports centre is actually in Martinsried.

Public transport:

 

U6 U-Bahn to Großhadern (one stop before Klinikum Großhadern), about 15 minutes from Marienplatz, and then take the No. 266 bus (direction Planegg) for 10 minutes to the stop Martinsried Nord, and walk 5 minutes to the sports centre.

The bus goes every 10 minutes early in the evening and then every 20 minutes until c. 22:00, then every 40 minutes; with any luck someone with a car can offer a lift back to the U-Bahn afterwards.

 

While most of us are intermediates, everyone is welcome to come along.

 

We mostly play doubles, rotating around the courts and changing partners as we go so youwill get the chance to play people with various abilities.

 

You can rent a racquet there if necessary.

 

Use of the sauna is included and there is a good Italian restaurant.

 

We have a fixed booking for one court every week, although it may be possible to add an additional court for all or part of the time. We can accommodate up to about 6 playersper court.

 

Depending on numbers, the cost is around € 5-8 for each hour you play.

This is because we have to cancel the court 24 hours in advance if we don’t have enough players.

 

So if you are unsure if you can make it – please do not leave your name on the reservations list! Otherwise we might have to charge you if you don’t turn up, to pay for court time we couldn’t use.
