Factory reset... will that delete stuff like contacts and foti ?

I went through all app and put them on wifi where it is an option. The Android installed apps that you cannot delete i have deactivated mobile data but there is no wifi option. So how will they update ?

Go to settings > system apps updater > click on the settings icon at the right upper corner > auto updates > update using wifi

Thanks. The options are not presented this way. Can't see system apps updater. I have clicked on Background data restricted. Hope that does it. And doesn't cause me any aggro.

So I can see in whatsapp that my calls were huge 140 MB. Data settings were already on wifi downloads only and calls on lower data. Which brings me to question the possibility of spyware. The storage used in whatsapp shows about 80% yellow stripe for apps and other. Which I fail to understand. What apps can be stored on whatsapp ?

10 sec video call used 46MB. I dunno if that is normal. I was cut off and got a message from my provider that my internet allowance was used up. They still docked me for the remaining couple of euros credit on my account for internet use beyond my subscription

So whatsapp call used 46mb. So no rouge App other than whatsapp. It seems that your Provider provides high speed lte, perhaps 400-500 mbps connection and whatsapp used all the availaible bandwidth for the said call. Apps like whatsapp have inbuilt algorithm to scale the video call data uses based on the available bandwidth.

That´s an option my Android version (9) doesn´t offer. Have you searched for it (provided your version is offering a search function)?

Putting a key logger on a company laptop isn't really spying on you when you are at home. It is spying on what you are doing with company owned equipment. However, it still might be against the law in Germany as my porn watching former co-workers claimed. It's worth it to check that out I think.

It is 100% against German law. Example: an employee might be part of worker's council, he can use company's equipment for it and he cannot be spyed.

Another example: you send a confidential email to HR or to another department which has data protection rules. If a 3rd department is spying, it's a violation of data protection.

The only exceptions for data protection are emails written to customers.

I except there may have been recent changes ref. data protection but in the past I do know employers were allowed to open and read letters/post sent to an employee at the company address even if under a private and confidential (zu hand) designation, not sure if that was ever extended to digital communication though. In my case an inter company restricted distribution document, sent from the US  was opened and all I received was the envelope, no idea if the contents were merely lost or were stolen, it caused a major security clampdown and a change in procedure (sealed internal post was exempt from being opened) but otherwise the right to do it was maintained.

Thank you jeba... finally found the updater lurking in the deepest depths of my phone. I have now clicked wifi only updates. Blimey. Was never gonna stumble across that by accident.

Wrap the phone in aluminum foil. No signals can get in or out.

Who wants to continuously keep wrapping/unwrapping/discarding tinfoil? Tinfoil prices have gone through the roof recently! It's a costly exercise.

My advice is simply to attach an elastic chinstrap to your existing tinfoil hat. Using strong adhesive tape, balance the smartphone on the top of your head (screen facing your skull) and secure with tape (avoiding the camera lens). Put on tinfoil hat. Make sure chinstrap is secure and comfortable. The tape keeps the smartphone secure and the chinstrap keeps the tin foil hat secure, in the advent of dreaded loose smartphone on my head syndrome. It also means you can still transmit psychically to your Innermost Darkest Thoughts app with 100% security.

My tinfoil hat is shaped as a beanie so I can wear it when I sleep at night. Any alternative tinfoil hat shapes (cowboy, bowler, sombrero etc) may cause sleeping problems. Hope this helps.

Good luck! ;)
