Cell-phone contract problems

This is socialism, and our unit is here to fight this system and to teach Germans the values of liberty and freedom.

America : Fighting other countries' systems instead of fixing their own, since 1886.

In the United States

You're using a country that completely screwed itself by giving loans to people who would never be able to pay them back as an example? How fraudulent and scheming was all of that? These were companies that were SUPPOSED to run background credit checks and deny people due to their inability to pay in the long run. I realize this is a bit of a different case, but don't talk up the US in comparison to Germany in regards to responsibility.

We're trying to use logic here, and you and your cousin just keep coming back with these rants about the way things SHOULD be (and all sorts of other irrelevant stuff) rather than the way they are, which isn't helping your situation at all.

Hitler

Maybe if a cell phone contract is enough to get you to invoke Godwin's law, Germany is not the place for you.

...While you are globe trotting and sucking dry your parents savings account, I am productively enlisted to protect the virtues of liberty world-wide...

This should go here.

For me, a special circumstance is leaving not only the country, but a whole CONTINENT.

You are not leaving so what the hell are you talking about?

You lied it is not even applicable to you.

There really is no reasoning with you, you are so fucking far gone.

Even people who do leave are not guaranteed. If you cannot live and function like an adult I suggest you go back home until you are mature enough to handle life abroad. That my friend is the best advice anyone here can give you.

P.S. Arguing the same irrational point over and over is not making anyone agree with you.

I blame VODAFONE, not for her bill, but for the fact that she CANNOT cancel the contract earlier. In the UNITED STATES you can close a contract earlier, by paying an early termination fee. In Germany, they are so money hungry on these schemes and scams that they do not wish to offer such an obviously needed option, especially for foreigners.

Things are different in another country.. Who would have ever thought of that..

Guess where you/your cousin is.. That's right.. NOT The US..

So take your US loving/preaching Bullshit and go somewhere else.

It's Americans like you that make the rest of us look bad..

"I didn't even want a 2-year contract, but there are no other options. ... ...

I do have a prepaid phone. In addition to this one. I had it all along."

Eh?

And as for the person in uniform... insane, or what? I have a vision of a foaming mouth and a seriously disturbed world vision. Really scary.

And all you fine, law-abiding people are here in Germany because you love your own countries so much! Every country has its faults, and so does Germany.

And yes, change the title of this topic. I don't have to stay here, I can leave tomorrow and leave my bill to be paid by tax-payers like you. But I choose to stay here and pay my bill. Some thick skulls do not comprehend the difference between paying a bill and terminating a contract.

uh, USA, I already served my time in the military, probably before you were even born. I think you would be surprised how many military members are here on TT, both active and former. so you might want to watch who you insult about being disrespectful and who is a real American.

There are gonna be a lot of military units that are going to be surprised when they find out the "2Real Reason" they are here in Germany.

I do have a prepaid phone. In addition to this one. I had it all along. I am not disputing my roaming charges, not that they are not outrageous (9 minutes with Germany from Paris cost 40 Euros), I am disputing leaving the contract.

Absolutely impossible. MAXIMUM cost (set in European law) is 46 cents per Minute, including all taxes, so no more than €4.60 (assuming you talked into the 10th minute)

And just for the record, no-one is saying you cannot get out of the contract. You can, in exceptional circumstances (being an American should be such) cancel, but you will pay a penalty.

Erm... not by taxpayers, but by others equally stupid enough to sign up to a 2 year contract with Vodafone...

I bet all of you so called conservatives would allow Hitler to perpetuate his crimes based on the fact that it is LAW, and that rejecting the law would mean rejecting personal responsibility.

Ok, whoever picked post 88 in the Godwin pool, you win. Double if you picked it would be a fake Air Force guy.

This is just a thought -

I'm an American citizen wishing to relocate from Boston to Munich...Let's say I meet the man of my dreams at the airport (and he happens to be German), and we get married. What would that mean in terms of my American citizenship? Would I have the option of becoming a dual citizen (American-German)? Would I be able to renounce my American citizenship (which I wouldn't really want to do) and become German through my "husband"?

Any info. on this topic will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello all!

I'm curious to know if anyone knows what the job outlook for nurses is in Germany (especially in Munich). I'm an American citizen thinking of moving to Munich, and am wondering how easy or difficult it could be to find a job as a nurse if I received my certification here in the States.

Thanks so much!!

Hello everyone!

I'm currently a Front Desk Supervisor at a new Hilton in Massachusetts, and have worked as such for almost a year. As some of you might know from my previous posts, I'm planning to move to Munich during the summer of 2008. I speak several languages, including German, and am interested in finding a similar position in Munich (by the time I move, I will have acquired 2 years of supervisory experience at the hotel).

I have also researched the net about most of the hotels in Munich, especially the Hilton brand, and would really like to transfer "internationally" through the Hilton network.

Does anyone know the best way to do this? Is it professional to e-mail my CV and cover letter in English? Or rather in German? How about phone calls, and how far in advance should one start contacting potential employers? Also, can my current employer do anything to help me find this similar position in Germany?

Any thoughts, websites, suggestions, etc. will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

So, just wondering - which profession are you really (as I think you also posted for teaching jobs) and did the finding a German husband ever work out?

sorry, could not resist! Going to make some more popcorn.

And BTW, it's people like you and your "cousin" who make loads of us extremely embarrassed to be part of that country that thinks it is so great and better than everywhere else! IT IS NOT!!! The US has just as many problems (if not more TBH) than most European countries at the moment.

if you make shit you blame it on Hitler-Germany, and if some US- members here critize you they show a lack of patriotism and disrespect of military members.. Screwd, Lord, please send down some brain.

I think the OP is too oblivious to realize just how many Americans are in this thread condemning her behavior.

It's no wonder the world thinks of us so poorly.

I call Bullshit.. There is no US Military presence in Munich let alone a base for you unit to be "Stationed" at.

Who said I am stationed in Munich? I have an apartment here and am home for 3 weeks for the holiday season. Thankfully I have mastered German and have found an apartment in Bavaria where I like to live. Unfortunately, Germans still live under the strong hand of socialism and it is in my interest to destroy this with the injection of a purely free society, like LA.

As an American I must say that it’s almost impossible to find an apartment here in Germany. First and foremost, I’m self employed (web writer, publisher). I have enough money to rent the place, no criminal record, speak German… yet the Germans seem like the coldest people when it comes to picking a foreigner to rent an apartment. I cant call it racism because I suppose as a White American it’s useless to call it that, but it seems more of a cultural pick. My personal impression and I hope no one misunderstands me, is that they prefer Germans over any foreigner, color plays no role. That is my wholehearted experience. So, while I’m ranting I am also trying to find an apartment to look for at the same time. I wont give up, but it’s a real damn hard mission. Mission le impossible.

Yeah, sure you're in the Air Force.

Impersonating a member of the military is a crime, whether you're a socialist or not, shithead.

Yeah, you're in the Air Force.

I found an apartment, because I hated the prospect of living in the barracks. If you want, I can invite you over to training HQ and show you what a muscular guy can do to you. I will F you until you love me, fgot. I will fornicate with your wife.
