Yet more fresh snow today in the Kleinwalsertal and generally kind conditions tomorrow (cold but sunny in the morning, snow showers later). Couple of free spaces if anyone wants in.

[seefeld Olympiazentrum webcam]

The Seefeld in Tirol webcam shows that there is enough snow for one more Sunday trip.

Trails B1 (red/intermediate), C2 (black/difficult) and B3 (red/intermediate) are listed as open, making a loop from Seefeld up to Wildmoossee and back possible.

Wildmoosalm restaurant is closed, however, so we have to ski the complete 16km route before returning to Seefeld for a late lunch.

We will take a direct train to Seefeld, sharing Werdenfels Regio and Austrian group tickets (about €18 each). Ski hire is available in Seefeld. There is also a €9 Loipe fee in Seefeld.

Previous cross-country skiing experience is required. Please sign up below to join.

The ski hire shop in Seefeld is closed this weekend, so anyone signing up will need their own skis.

So with the arrival of spring we say goodbye to a bumper winter. This season we did more tours and skied more kilometres than in any of the previous four seasons. It was a late start, with the snow not reaching Bavaria until after Christmas, and skiing in 16°C sunshine in January was a new one, but eventually the snow arrived with a vengeance, allowing us to try out some new destinations, and a late burst of winter over Easter gave us fresh April snow to ski on.

Thanks to everyone who joined us this season and to those who helped with the organisation. Here's hoping for an earlier start this year!

We can kick off the season this week! And it's an easy decision on where to go, as there's only one resort with enough (natural) snow to groom, namely the snow-hole of Balderschwang in Allgäu. For this tour we crank up the trusty 9-seater bus plus car if required.

Meeting time on Sunday is 8.30 a.m. on Donnersbergerbrücke (on the bridge, southbound side). Journey time to Balderschwang is just under 2 hours. There are currently 15km of trails groomed. They are a mix of blue, red and (optional) black. As the downhill season doesn't start until December the restaurants and ski hire stores are mostly still closed. However ski hire IS possible. Will look into lunch options; we may have a late lunch at the end of the tour. The tour is open to reasonably competent XC or downhill skiers. Transport costs will be around €20 per person. Can't remember what else I have to write, so just ask if you have any questions!
