Hemmersuppenalm (Reit im Winkl)

• Grade: Black (difficult)
• Suitable for: Good intermediates, advanced
• Technique: Classic and skating
• Ski hire: No

This week's tour is on GOOD FRIDAY and is a strenuous but rewarding tour to the Hemmersuppenalm plateau above Reit im Winkl. There is still 65 cm of snow up there with a further 10 cm or so forecast to fall in the next few days.

 

Meeting time on Sunday is 7.40 a.m. on Platform 10 of Munich Hauptbahnhof (walk down platform 11 to get there). It's train and bus to Seegatterl, from where we start the steady 500-metre ascent to lunch at the Hindenberghütte. In the afternoon we ski the 10-kilometre undulating Panorama-Loipe on the Hemmersuppenalm plateau before skiing back down to Seegatterl. At the bottom we stop for well-deserved waffles and hot drinks at our friends' guesthouse Haus Wildbach before catching the bus and train back to Munich.

 

Total skiing distance is around 22 km. Arrival time back in Munich is 8.15 p.m. We share Bayern Tickets for the return journey (approx. €10 per person). Please sign up below to join.

This Sunday we need cable-car assistance to reach the snow at 1500m altitude in Ehrwald.

There are 13km of trails at Ehrwald Almbahn. We will ski them all, then have lunch back at Tirolerhaus.

We travel to Ehrwald by train (2 hours, I will buy the group tickets, about €10 per person). Then there is a 10 minute ski bus ride to the cable-car station.

Ski hire is available at the cable-car station. The cable-car costs €15.50 for a return ticket.

 

We will be back in Munich at 6:45pm.
