Sunday sailing on Ammersee - 2005

134 posts in this topic

I've seen the photos and I'm so glad you all had a good time. Relieved actually because I'm unfortunately the wayward skipper that shouldn't have gone to the Schwabinger Street Fest Saturday night. SO, firstly, thanks to Captain Bligh for organising everything, sincerest appologies to Captain Bligh for me not turning up and potentially making him look crap at organising things, and another one, appologies to chatterbox for not picking her up either. Oh and thanks to Mad Axe Murderer for being there and saving the day. I owe you all a beer for sure. And, er, I'm here next Sunday if you'll have me back!

Dear Toytown Sailor,

I'm going to organise another sailing event either Sunday or Monday (it's a public holiday next week) and I've found another skipper so we can take out two boats (up to 16 people).

No experience is required and absolute beginners are more than welcome on these events.

I'll send out the email thursday asking if you would like to come.

If you'd like to be put on the sailing email list then please send me your email address to david_maps@yahoo.co.uk.

If for some reason you already sent me your email and you haven't received the weekly emails then apologies and please send it again. If you PM me then please remember to put your email in the PM:-)

See you at the weekend, Captain Bligh !!!

Still collecting numbers. Definitely one boat of 8 will go and another boat if more people interested - still places left so send me your email if you want to be included on the Sunday trip and I'll confirm Friday afternoon your place. Sailing is from 14:00 to 17:00 on Ammersee - train leaves Hbf at 12:51.

Did you guys have a great time? I was thinking about you on Saturday as we were sailing around on the lake. I went with a friend who has his boat there. I didn't have any sailing duties - just had to lay myself out on the front and soak up the sun.

Max speed on Saturday - 5.2 knots.

Dear Sailor,

Next Sunday (25/9/05) is the last sailing day of the season. There is a Regatta (sailing race) organised and I've reserved two boats for the race. Typically there are about 15 boats in the race.

It's an early start but its a good way to clear the head after a night at the Oktoberfest. Prince Philip during Cowes week once said the best sports are those you can do with a hangover - not a big fan of Prince Philip but he's got a point.

We meet at the sailing club (Utting am Ammersee) at 9:30 and I imagine the whole thing will be finished by 14:00. I will take the train at 8:52 from Hauptbahnhof.

If you would like to join please send me an email (david_maps@yahoo.co.uk) or PM me with your email and I will confirm if you have a place.

No experience required to participate !!!

Regards

David (Captain Bligh)

Has anyone got any pics of the sailing regatta? Would love to see them if you don't mind sharing! I didn't want to take the digital camera incase I lobbed it overboard, so I took a bog standard camara and have to wait 'til they are developed. Anyone got any digital pics? To be honest, I think I only took naff ones anyway!

PM me if you don't mind sharing them and I'll give you my email address, ta xx
