Sunday sailing on Ammersee - 2005

==============================

I want to organise a Toytown sailing group every Sunday on the Amersee.

We can rent a small yacht that takes up to 8 people and I know at least one other person who can captain a boat so we can take another boat which means we can take up to 16 people.

No experience is required and everybody gets to sail the boat if they want. So just come along with a few cold beers and enjoy the sailiing, sun and swimming from the boat. After sailing there is a beer garden close by before we catch the train back.

Sailing is between 2pm to 5pm Sundays. We meet Hauptbahnhof(main train station) at 12:40.

If you are interested in coming then please send me an email to david_maps@yahoo.co.uk and I will email everybody a few days before and confirm your place. I will also post here.

Thanks,

David

Hi Nicole,

Very cheap - a boat is 15€/hr so between 8 people it is 8€ per person for the afternoon.

I'm very interested. Hard to commit yet though. Seems to be so much going on. I could probably say for sure on Thursday. What's the weather expected to do?

Where will you be stopping on the Ammersee? As you mention the train I guess you'd mean Herrsching, right?

And how much equipment would be needed (if any)?

Thanks

Normally the sailing goes from Utting, which is a train ride from Geltendorf. Takes between 50 minutes and an hour ten to get there from Hbf. Best bet is to split a Bayern ticket between the group, which I imagine is what Captain Bligh plans to do, seeing as the meet is at Hbf.

Hi Katrina, no specialist equipment is needed. Soft soled trainers so you don't slip, a light waterproof jacket in case it rains and perhaps a jumper in case the weather looks changeable or cloudy. Swimming costumes, towel, hat and sun tan lotion essential !

Do you know if it's possible to rent a boat there with RYA Day Skipper cert from the UK or do you need a German licence?

For a German Hr Ernst is a pretty chilled out guy - he's never asked me to show my sailing license - I've never seen him ask anyone in fact.

Hi, if you want to come this sunday - please PM me with your email or send to david_maps@yahoo.co.uk. This makes it easier for me to co-ordinate.

I'll confirm by email wednesday or thursday to those people interested. Just trying to calculate numbers at the moment. Also need, to keep an eye on the weather for sunday which is why its better to confirm everything nearer the end of the week.

To get put on the weekly Sailing Group mailing list then please send me your email anyway.

thanks, David

Is this the kind of thing for peeps (with no experience) who want to have just a one off go? Or is it more like the same group going each week? I'm leaving Munich soon but would like to have a go at this before I leave. Any chance of me (+ 1) coming along this Sunday, but only this Sunday? Cheers.

Absolutely, it's open to absolute beginners and anyone who just wants to come and try it once - no problem. I'll confirm wednesday or thursday with you - need to get my head around the numbers and how many boats we can take.
