Moving to Hamburg

Hey all,

I will be completing my move to Hamburg in a couple weeks, and I was wondering if anyone up there knew where I might be able to hire relatively inexpensive labor to help carry some stuff. I have about 1k kg, but most of it is in small to medium sized, easy to carry boxes. I have about 10 larger items that I can either take apart, or manage with another person. In the US I'd just call some friends over and treat for all the beer and pizza, but alas, I'm new to Germany and don't really have any here (yet). So again, does anyone know a moving company or such that just hires out workers? The companies I've found only want to handle the whole move, and coming from Cologne they charge quite a bit for anything over 8 hours, when the drive alone will be 10 (roundtrip). O, of you want beer and pizza and don't mind carrying stuff, let me know. (Honestly, though, I'm moving to a 4th floor place, so it'll be a b!tch.) Any help would be appreciated.

That's why this is up in the air... I could do it this weekend if I I knew I'd have a little help. Because I don't know if I will or not, it's not set in stone. I'm paying on my place here thru Sept., and already have the keys to my new place up there. It's the details of the move that I'm now working on.

I moved house, and used a guy called Ernesto Kasel : e.kasel@yahoo.de / 0049 1511 846 8373

I couldn't say how much he would charge you, but he has a very large van, so great if you have big items!

I just sent him a list of jobs I needed doing, and he sent me a quote via email.
