Toytown website improvements/suggestions

What events? Do you mean meetups and parties?

Every time I ask a TTer what happened to <insert TT meetup/event>, I hear it has been moved off Toytown to some other platform. :(

At one point or another more or less all organisers have managed to fall out with The Management at TT (whoever that might be at any specific time) and eventually gave up.  For ages after a tiff (I wont go into details) one of the largest events in Berlin, "the boat" at warschauer strasse was unmentionable on Toytown and all references were removed except the sulking message from an ex-organiser that said it was cancelled.  It is still running if anyone is interested (assuming this post doesnt also go down the memory hole).

Should Toytown swallow its collective pride and get back into the business of promoting expat events properly (not just comedy at quatsch which seems the only berlin evernt thats allowed) it might regain some of its lost relevance.

What Metall said. I know a couple who are simply using other platforms in order to attract more people. Everyone in Germany is not on TT and Germans are also welcome to many events as well.

I would be happy to see more meetups, parties and events posted on Toytown, especially as it for free here.

(Certain other platform charge for setting up events.)

Of course said other platforms don't have the problem of trolls disrupting the event announcements. Just saying.

That's a very abridged version (and quite flattering to the alleged victims) of what happened.

It's been a while, but if IIRC, the boat party people repeatedly created multiple accounts to spam their events - with the aim of constantly keeping their posts near the top of the respective forum page - despite numerous requests to play by the forum rules. They were ultimately banned due to that abuse.

Well, I do vaguely remember a Berlin organiser of something or other, who would come on her own thread to drum up enthusiasm and get told off for it. She pointed out that other individuals got away with that stuff, and I never understood what the problem was anyway - chit chat is the backbone of a forum. and without it FB will come over all Borg-like and assimilate us.

Does Adam Biscuits still do his veggie homeless dinner? That's one I enjoyed reading.

Remember, some of us are the only TTer for 40 miles and the events pages are like being able to sniff a bar of chocolate. Apart from Munich for ladies from whatever to 45, can't read that any more...

Never could. I'm too old. I do often wonder if some haven't gone over the age limit by now.

Could we please have an ignore feature that really lives up to its name?

If I've ignored someone on this site, I not only don't want to see their posts - I don't even want to see that they've posted in the threads I'm visiting, nor do I want to see the topics they start (especially relevant given current events) or other people quoting them.

Also, the anonymous logon function is all kinds of fucked up. It doesn't seem to be supported on mobile devices, and if you do sign in to TT on a mobile device, your lack of anonymity then follows you back to your desktop - until you log off and then log back on again there.

Last but not least, the "My activity streams" menu is starting to grow unnecessary unnamed entries again:

It’s probably adware on your computer.  It usually gets installed along with “free” ware or “free” porn sites.

A good antivirus program should detect and remove it. If not, you may want to get a professional to look at it.

Spidey, are you using Win 10? It might be connected to the 1809 update. Mine did that right after I installed the 1809.  The latest update should fix it.
