I'd be afraid to lose one finger at least.

My method (back in the days when our tom cat needed one pill daily at least to treat his terminal illness): grab him, wrap him tightly in a towel, secure him between your knees kneeling and crossing your ankles (he would have wriggled out otherwise), force his mouth open, stuff the pill in, close his mouth forcefully until the pill is swallowed.

The surprise effect did the trick.

Sounds brutal, but he lived a good live until his pretty short demise.

No expertise here, but might worry about pill going down wrong tube?  They make it look really easy.  Would hiding the pill inside a treat work?  @bramble would probably have some good ideas.

It looks easy in that video, but in my experience my cats have only ever been that placid at the vets, but not at home. My method is to use a tablet crusher to crush the pill and then mix it with a spoonful of yoghurt, which my cat simply loves. It's lapped up in no time.

Worth a try I think.  A vet told me to drop the pill in their mouth, close their mouth and gently blow on the nose.  This causes the cat to swallow.  You know your cat and what they will let you do with them.  If you think something will stress them too much or make them lash out, look for some other method.

Also worth a try but my guys had a nose for being drugged.  They wouldn't touch anything that had been spiked.
