Yeah, spam and leberkaese pretty much the same thing. Spam fritters (in batter) used to go down quite well as a kid. And I occasionally have tarted up leberkaese from the artisan butcher... has bits in... peppers, pistachios, mushrooms. Good with green salad and bratis. BethAnn, have you no fear of missing out ?

Thank you. The meat is actually meat. So not artificial. It is more identifiable than a lot of stuff ground up, mixed with godknowswhat and disguised by a glutinous sauce. I would not go out of my way to defend spam but once in a while it is perfectly ok. You foodies live on silverside,  foie gras and caviar 7/7 ?

Salt and sugar are in excess everywhere now. By weight I doubt salt is the second ingrédient in spam. But I have not and will not check that B)

Hey, it was very handy and cheap.  No refrigerator needed either.  Koreans and other seem to cook it up well.

 I know. Budae Jigae, kimbap,...

Know it, love the latter.

It is, indeed, the second ingredient listed.

What is the amount of sodium in spam?

  • One serving (and remember, there are usually multiple servings in one package), contains over 770mg of sodium. Even the oxy-moronic Low Sodium SPAM (really?) has over 530mg of sodium. So unless you want to eat one serving of SPAM musubi for your entire day’s worth of food, I’d suggest leaving SPAM on the shelves.
