Hurrah! Rainking lebt noch (wieder).

 

Spring is here and it is time to cycle. The weather forecast for Sunday is currently less than we hoped for, i.e., cold and cloudy, and your legs have probably forgotten the delicious pain of cycling. So this week we shall do a gentle starter ride, beginning and ending in Munich. The exact route has not yet been chosen, but we shall visit our usual mixture of woods and quiet roads.

 

We shall start at Ludwigsbrücke, cycle for about an hour away and stop for some breakfast somewhere appropriate. Then we cycle on again for another hour before stopping again for lunch and recriminations. Finally, we ride back into town

 

The route will be decided later. Check here for updates and mood swings.

 

Distance: about 40km

Surfaces: mix of minor roads and gravel paths.

Was holding out to see what the weather would be like. It's rubbish. I'm still recovering from last week's extreme endurance ride anyway.

Sunday 12th April 2015. The weather forecast is warm, bright and clear, so we have to get out. This is time once again for our traditional season opener to Kloster Reutberg,:

We will take BOB trains to Holzkirchen (hopefully avoiding the Bayernkarte name problem this week anyway), and set off south through fairly flat land to the glorious views and great beer at Kloster Reutberg. (15km)

 

Now the route goes past a lake, more views and we go along a brand new route with more climbing and advenure than before, down into, and back up from the Isar valley to our lunch stop (17km).

 

Finally there are a couple of excellent hills to climb before a long glide back down to the Isar to Lenggries, nestling among what snow may be left. (20km)

 

Surfaces: mostly quiet road, some gravel tracks. A few medium hills, perhaps steep in places
