German words for 'overachiever'

7 posts in this topic

My dictionary says 'typischer Erfolgsmensch', but I prefer 'Überflieger', although that also means high achiever.

Streber -> Mmm. Looking for something with a more positive sense I think.

Yes my dictionary says the same and offers some other really long choices. Ueberflieger might suit.

overachiever is someone who is successful through excessive effort but "Überflieger" is someone who is successful because of high intelligence so that's somewhat different.

I don't think there's a real good german word for it, "Streber" and "Erfolgsmensch" is probably the closest.

maybe something like "erbringt überdurchschnittliche Leistung" or "erfolgsorientiert" depending on the context

"streber" can be positive or negative, depending upon the context in which it is used.
