English translation of Abschreibung gefördert

What sort of write-off or depreciation is this?

Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

That looks more like a fragment of a sentence. Perhaps some kind of behaviour is "durch Abschreibung gefördert", something like a tax incentive. It's certainly not an expression that could stand alone.

Like LeChamois, I think (without knowing much about taxes or translating) it could be part of a sentence that says that certain investments are encouraged/promoted (gefördert) by depreciations. See for example Sonderabschreibung for small and mid-sized businesses or think of the Absetzung für Abnutzung (fiscal term for Abschreibung) for real estate (especially high for historic buildings, or for buildings in East Germany, now ended AFAIK). The depreciation is fictitious, doesn't necessarily correspond to a real loss in value and therefore can be seen as a kind of Förderung for real estate owners.
