I miss Target stores while living in Germany

Apology accepted. I would truly be interested in hearing about why you think my attitude towards poor people is lacking.

"yeah with a PHD meine gott"

That is mein Gott.' Meine Goettin'. Mankind has given up on female Goetter. (they got to bossy) And please don't criticize my English, the closest I ever got to an English higher education was a week in Cambridge

yeah with a PHD meine gott they give them away for breakfast. stop following me about in this forum to get one better than me.. I am not a translator and I will not need your pathetic jobs. WHY is it Americans need to be so horrid to each and every member of the human race to make themselves feel decent. ~Canadians never do that. half my family are canadian.

Actually this Canadian finds you incredibly annoying on here too! You seem to have a knack of sticking your nose over all and attempting to stir shit... and now personally attacking a long standing member of TT that never attacked you! Hmm! What was the PHD in english or anything to do with the English language... my spelling and grammer is bad enough, good to find someone that is worse than me.

I love Target...the clothes, the housewares, all good quality, stylish and very reasonably priced. The snack food aisles are great as well. I never go shopping for anything in Germany any more (apart from food and basic necessities obviously) and just load up when I go home to the US.

"and just load up when I go home to the US."

sure, shop till you drop.

Why are women always so happy when they can go to a mall? If you really have a lot of stamina (and money) you should try West-Edmonton mall.

Have to go there tomorrow:-((

Who said anything about wanting to go to a mall or "shopping til I drop?" I have to buy clothes to wear, I hate the German shopping experience with a firey passion (clothes mostly shit quality, poorly cut, anything decent is ridiculously expensive, cold and surly staff), ergo I wait until I go home to get what I need. Malls suck and are overpriced everywhere.

Just got back from the States on Friday, and hit Target twice and SuperTarget once. It was heavenly.

I also went to Walmart twice, but the difference between Walmart and Target is huge. Walmart is truly trailer trash heaven and Target soccer mom heaven.

Target has clean, bright, airy, well-maintained stores, friendly staff, clothes you would actually consider wearing outside the house, and thanks to awesome marketing, you actually feel cool shopping there. And the prices were the same in both Target and Wallyworld on everything I compared (cameras, Nintendo DS games, clothes, snacks, toys) so there is really no reason at all to be subjected to Walmart anymore.

The only stores I really really wish we had in Germany are Target and Trader Joes. Oh, and a shoe store that was actually affordable. On that tangent, I bought a pair of Sketchers on sale in the States for $7.50 (double markdown - woohoo!) The exact same pair is €80 here. Nuff said.

Men are like buses, you hang around waiting ages for on and then three turn up at once.

Well actually only 2 this weekend, but both good kissers. B)

"I have to buy clothes to wear," of course you do dear, what else would you do with them, pass them on to the Sally Ann after you wore them one weekend?

Sounds familiar.Woman always 'need' something they never 'want' it. :)

Such a flirt, gaberlunzi.

Trader Joe's is arguably even better than Target. If Target got cheap wine, though, it'd be neck and neck. (Toddler daughter agrees: TJ's gives out helium balloons. Target doesn't.)

Thing is leeza you have to compare like with like.

$7.50 in the US and € 80 here Ok, but you said it was a double super reduced special offer price you paid in the US.

Have you never worn out a pair of jeans, shoes or underwear until they were falling apart, accidentally shrank a sweater, gained or lost weight? Never needed something smart to wear for a job interview or special occasion? Do you just wear the same outfit day in and day out for years? Probably. Men!

I think I went to Target at least 5 times while in the US this summer. I bought as many school supplies as I could. Huge packages of crayola markers (like 50 or so), individually scented, only $5. My kids love them, and so do their classmates (ok, may get note from teacher saying the markers are distracting). Once back in Germany, I had to pick up a few extra "German specific" supplies at the local Spielwaren/Office products store. Made me want to cry. The poor selection & prices are ridiculous. There's a lot that I like about Germany, but I do miss Target! (and Costco, and the outlets like Off Saks)

I'm not sure where you all live, sure there is no Target in Germany. The Target i went to earlier this year (Hartford CT) was huge, no doubt, but seriously it didn't have anything i couldn't buy here. Of course you have to ge into a few stores for it. The thing is that in Germany you profit from living in more metropolitian Area, in the US you have the same supplies everywhere you go. But actually i found that to be a bit sad. Last year i spend a month there, been to probably ten states while visiting some friends. Everything from Massachusetts to Virginia. Honestly every place looked pretty much the same once you entered a certain shopping area. You could never tell where you are. Apple Bees, Whole foods, Trader joe, Target, random Mall. Sometimes whole places had the same layout. That's why i liked Wahington DC most, i stayed close to Georgetown, near AU. It had the "supermarket next door", people walked - at least some.

MY point is those super-centers have a downside. And they only work in very spacious environments. You can't have everything.
