Hi Bro

Errr? That is a REALLY professional way to address potential customers. I think that just about somes the whole thread up. So I assume if "Bro" would like to go ahead and buy a ticket then he will have to transfer the money to your bank account "up front", bearing in mind you don't even have a proper website so we have no guarantee that you can even provide a ticket. That is asking a lot on trust don't you think?

Here is a car that you would probably find suitable if you are still looking:

I think I`d rather buy tickets off Del boy there!

Wonder if that was ever shown on German TV, the thought of it dubbed into German made me smile :D

Edit : The whole street our friends in seems full of dodgy "travel agents" see whos next door :

Star-flights Reisebüro GmbH‎

As a further indication as to why I think this business is probably dodgy, have a look at these prices:

Munich-Dublin-Munich going out on 5 September, and back on 15 September with Aer Lingus - direct flight.

aer lingus web site: 229.07 Euro

opode.de web site: 322.07 Euro

expedia.de web site: 288,11 Euro

So Opodo, one of the biggest and most respected flight aggregators are adding 93 Euros to the the Aer Lingus web site price. Expedia, adding on 59 and a bit (Interesting for me, as I always thought Opodo was quite good, but looks like they mark up big time)

Our friend claims he can get this flight for 160 Euro (and presumably make a profit), so he's undercutting the airline by 69 Euros. Do you believe it?

If that was so collin than why ado you see all the travel agencies all over the world.

It depends, if you can buy something cheap on the internet not everyone can. We get special fares from Airlines directly which is a cheaper thenm the web

EXAMPLE. if you see my price for member garibaldi for DUBLIN i have quoted 160 eur. can u find this price on the net??? NEVER

try it

Amir

Ähem, even using about 2 mins of my precious time I got a rate of 157 EUR with Aer Lingus from MUC to DUB return. So you are even more expensive than booking directly with the airline.

god guys give the guy a break - Travel agents are known to be given better deals by airlines, this way the travel agent will always recommend that airline. My friends works for BA in Sydney and this is his job to make sure that travel agents say BA BA all the time and in return BA give them bulk discounted tickets - the more you book flights with one airline the better the deal you get as a travel agent. So the guy doesnt have a website, he is starting up a business, he main target is most probably walk in business. God, my travel agent doesnt have a great website, you cant check flight deals etc its just got a page about what she specialises in. If you dont want to use his services well stop reading the thread and give the guy a break.

Ok Guys and Guls

I really give up. I have been really insulted today then ever in my life.

I just wanted to promote my business and I have already mentioned that we are new and trying to establish.

But I do really now understand why europeans are really considered rude and ignorant. I was expecting positive response from you guys.

I am really ashamed why I have posted this topic.

Troy Boy thanks so much for understanding me. YOu are the only one with a heart.

Thanks all

Bye.

And no more inquiries please.

Bulk buying of seats is a specific tactic - use to be known as selling "bucket seats". The airlines dump unsold seats on the travel marketplace in the last few days before flights are due to go. These are nearly always long haul - most short haul airlines are operating these days at around 90% seat occupancy, and their strategy is to put flight prices up as it gets closer to flight time, as they get the panic buyers, or people who have to rebook late - so they make more money than dumping the few remaining seats in bulk. Also short haul operators have a pricing model whereby the prices go up as the plane fills up. So you get your 1 euro deal when the flight is empty, and by the time it gets to 50% occupancy, the prices are up at 50 euro etc...

The travel agents do not get special deals on these. They get commission if they sell seats through the travel reservation system.

The problem with our friend, and why nobody should give him a break is that he is offering prices that are impossible without him losing lots of money, (we have shown this clearly by now). And not only does he have a crap web site, its not even a web site - its a holding page that looks like it was put up this morning once people started to ask questions. So the issue is that it really does not look like this guy is running a proper travel agency, despite advertising as such, and therefore I think that it is advisable that potential customers beware.

Again, I re-iterate if people want to go to spend time and money using a travel agent, then that's your choice - I just don't see the point for booking flights around Europe as the price will not be better, and booking online usually takes up to 5 minutes.

I can appreciate that from the checks I did today - I can see that Opodo have a mega mark up on prices, and so not all my time was waster on this today, as I've learned not to bother with Opodo.

What about priceline name your own price?

I was expecting positive response from you guys.

Then you should perhaps look at how you have represented yourself and your business since the initial post in this thread. From the word go you have been defensive and unprofessional, and come across as a bit of a "wheeler and dealer". People asked you reasonable questions, you should understand that because you are new and trying to establish and don't have a website etc., then you are going to have to try even harder to get business. Business involves trust. Where is some text explaining about the services that you offer, the prices, how you operate, terms and conditions, procedures for booking, customer guarantee?

Nobody is trying to crush enterprise here, I'm certainly not, it's just that this all sounded a bit dodgy and illegitimate to me.

What about priceline name your own price?

I just tried priceline.com - they only do flights starting in the USA - so it's not possibility to book Munich-Dublin-Munich. Also it is not name your price any more - they "negotiate" a best price for you as you wait - pretty similar to other web sites.

So just to test it, I got a price form priceline.com for New York-Dublin-New York return - same dates 5th, 15th September. It gave me a price of US$667 with Delta Airlines - much better than the Aer Lingus option for the same dates of 819.27 Euro.

I have the same feeling as cat. I don't ask about the prices yet. But so far I don't believe in this business.

First post he tells us he is a GmbH. If that is true, he invested a lot of money in his new business. He must have a business plan. So why can I not find the company in a telephone book listing, or a google reference, why doesn't the website work, why no creditcard payment possible?

Why does he also advertise in a different post that he can unlock mobile phones for a charge? (Is this even legal?)

Why does he not answer questions about what systems he uses?

Who is doing the bookings with the customers in the travel agency while he is posting here?

Why doesn't he make offers for all the enquries given?

Why does he post in unprofessional language?

If he can answer these questions, then I will start to look at the proces he offers.

There have been some news stories in Germany about customers losing money to travel agents who then closed the shop. Quite a few, not just one agency, or one customer. So it is normal we should want to find out more about him before we give him our money.
