Cheap airfares offered

124 posts in this topic

I hate online bookings and always use a travel agent. I always get great deals thru my agent plus amazing service but the best thing it saves all the stress. I am sure to look you up one day and see what you can offer

but it's not correct to say that the cheapest fares are always found online. Travel agents are frequently still able to find lower prices, particularly for long-haul flights.

My comments are specific to the examples provided in this thread. As I said, proper travel agents have access to reservation systems such as Gallileo, which provide them with access to all scheduled flights in the world, and provides them with the ability to negotiate prices, depending on type of contract they have. Access to these systems is expensive, and requires training, and I expect also you need to be a bonded travel agent (i.e. to ensure your customers can get home if you go bust etc.).

Companies such as Aer Lingus provide full access to their flight schedules online direct to customer. They commit to making the lowest fares available, and so a travel agency cannot provide a lower fare to a customer, without taking it out of their commission. In the case of airlines such as Ryanair, they don't sell at all through third parties.

Online reservation systems in the end go through the systems such as Gallileo. What sites such as Opodo do is trawl through those systems to find the best prices to offer. To do this, they need to pay to access these systems, and they use sophisticated software to do the work.

So I do not see how a dodgy sounding "travel agent", based on a dodgy looking "telecoms company" can provide the quoted prices without losing money. Also it pisses me off big tiime when these sorts of "ventures" turn up on Toytown, and then when you start asking the guys valid questions, they can't come up with simple answers or evidence that what they are doing is kosher.

collin I cannot say nothing more.

We have a website www.futuretel.org

So when we go to your "web site" we get to:

http://217.69.171.6/res_future/flight_res_01.idc

This is a holding page with a form to login, and a welcome message. So what now? Did you not have enough time this morning to put a bit more information on the holding page you just created?

Looking forward to seeing your special offers on the web site.

Still no information on which travel reservation system you use? Could it be that you have your own special route to these great fares that nobody else can access.

That's your choice, but again you won't get a better price on Aer Lingus or budget airline prices from a travel agency.

I too use travel agents, especially for booking holidays. However, the last time I went to a travel to book a flight (many years ago), I had to direct toe agent as to how to find the routings and fares in their system. In the end I gave up, went home and booked it online.

Some people just think they are too smart and like to piss others.

You think about galilieo. My friend there are 3 systems widely used. Amadeus, Galileo and Saber.

I am a professional in amadeus. And dont you dare try to point me out as a SCAM with a stupid website.

Stop pinpointing others. I just hate people like you. they dont have the ability to do something and if others try they dont let you do it.

Moving your lips is the easiest thing to do in the world. use your brain somwhere else to prove someone wrong.

Read my posts mate - I said systems "like Galileo", I did not say it is the only one.

By the way, so far in this thread, you are the only person who has used the term "SCAM" - twice and in big letters. I have not suggested that. I have asked you to provide some evidence that the travel business that you advertised on the public Toytown forum is a valid venture, and that you can actually get people special prices on air fares.

So far you have failed to do this, and continue to duck and dive, and avoid providing any basic evidence.

As for the "stupid website" - you said it mate.

And by the way, I am all for people being entrepreneurial - been there myself. However, what I don't like are businesses that are not straight and honest with their prospective customers, and who make promises they cannot live up to. So far, the evidence from this thread is that this may well be the case with your travel venture - it's up to you and your colleagues to prove otherwise.

I don't want to shit in your porridge but I'd be careful with any Ryanair dealing online:

Consumer groups and travel agents have hit out at budget airline Ryanair after it emerged the company plans to cancel thousands of travel tickets bought by customers through third-party websites.

Gaurdian

Edit: wrong carrier, sorry ;)

It's not me to whom you need provide evidence, as I wouldn't buy from your travel business anyway. It is to anybody who reads this thread on Toytown and may consider buying flights form your business. You have chosen to use this vehicle as a sales/marketing platform. Therefore if you want to convince your prospective customers that they can trust you, I suggest that you stop being so defensive, and come up with some convincing evidence that anyone here can trust your business. If you decide not to, then that's your choice.

As I mentioned earlier, this is a public forum, and people who choose to use it to sell products or services should be prepared to answer questions from people who partake on the forum, and who may choose to buy.

Wow... Not good form I think to post or even offer the web address if the site isn't ready. First impressions and all, you know? I completely understand where Colin is coming from and if I didn't know you I sure wouldn't book through you no matter what price you offered. I think its a valid point to request this information from you since you are asking people to trust your services. Taking a defensive stance only further unsettles people and I think you made a big mistake today.

I also am a little worried about you. I don't think it is good to register a GmbH company but have no telephone listing. Not because I want your number, you gave it. But because I want to see if you are real. Sorry, but if you want me to spend my money, then I want to know you are a real business.

Maybe someone who lives in Wedding can come to your office and check this for us? What times is your office open?

I am interested to use your service, but I want to know first that this is a real business.
