Fun places for a family outing around Heide

Thanks to Qype, I am managing to find some fun places for kids in the general Heide area. Has anyone been to Magic Park in Verden? worth a trip?

Please feel free to post up any other similar places... Not just huge weekend type places like Heide Park, but also smaller venues. I'm trying to keep my 3 year old (and myself) entertained during the week as well, and am tired of the same old local playgrounds. have car, will travel. thanks!

We like the Vögelpark at Walsrode - as well as really interesting birds they also do bird shows and have a great playground.

Stade is nice for a wander round with a big pedestrian area. Nothing spectacular but very pleasant.

I'll keep my thinking cap on!

The Natureum is on the Elbe estuary in the direction of Cuxhaven. They focus on the ecosystem of the area, have changing exhibitions. I remember a mammoth show years ago. Sometimes they have medieval markets and camps for children. http://www.natureum-niederelbe.de/

Park der Sinne in Bremervörde, on the Autobahn to Bremen, tries to convey and sharpen sensory impressions by their landscape arrangements. http://www.parkdersinne-brv.de

The water park at Kiekeberg is GREAT for kids in this warm weather. My son had a blast on Monday. It's one the best water playgrounds I've seen... even stuff for the older kids (e.g. raft that they must all balance on in order to stay afloat).

the pic here doesn't do it justice; it's quite large!
