  1. Hi   I've quite a numbe rof posts but can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. ... We have just arrived in Munich. Our son 2nd son has just turned 6 and completed a full year of primary educaiton in NZ. There are no Kita places for him here. Our local school has acccepted his elder brother (8)  last month who had no German. But they said our second has to wait till September.  The school has however, already accepted his enrollment for then.   My question is ... do they "have to" take him now, or are they allowed to?  Obviously Iwill be asking after the easter break, but would be interested in hearing of others experience similar to this or advice.   Thanks   Donald
  2. Hello all,   It is my understanding that in Germany school is mandatory and you can’t just take your kids out of school and go on a vacation. After some research and seeing other posts in this forum I see that there are exceptions such as a death in the family and what not. I was wondering what are acceptable reasons to take a kid out of school a few days earlier than the breaks. To be clear I am not trying to fight this or bend any rules. I would like to take my kids to my family Labor Day celebration which is very important in my family and gave me many great memories as I was growing up. Therefore I would like my kids to experience that if possible.
