  3. Hi guys!

About the evening meal on the 15th March after arriving from Kittlä. I think that staying for dinner in Vantaa is a better option, than going to Helsinki. Unfortunately yesterday my phone took me to the mobile English version of the restaurant that I suggested to have dinner in. Today I checked the main page of the website in Finnish. There is written in Finnish 'For the time being the restaurant is closed'. Apparently they have turned it into a some kind of catering enterprise, because they still offer meeting organisation in their premises, sauna evenings etc. Anyway, even if it was fully functioning, it is open until 9 pm according to the Finnish site and until 10 pm according to the English and Russian sites.

OK, never mind. I've looked at other restaurants in Vantaa (the Helsinki airport is not actually in Helsinki, it is in Vantaa, as well as our hotel) and I've found this American type steak house:

http://oklahoma.fi/ravintola/ The website is only Finnish, but if you go to the menu under A la Carte Menu and click different links you'll see the names of dishes in English, there are also chicken and pork dishes, burritos, pasta and burgers

    FB profile with reviews https://www.facebook.com/RavintolaOklahoma?fref=ts

+Google profile with a couple of reviews https://plus.google.com/105508164391783968882/about?gl=US&hl=en

On their website they recommend for groups bigger than 10 people a group menu in order to make it all faster. There are three kinds of main course in each option, for example

    OPTION 1

    GRILL STEAK VL 22€

    ARROWHEAD CHICKEN VL 19€

    TOURNEDOS VL 29€/39€

    OPTION 2

    STEAK CHEROKEE VL 23€/29€

    CHICKEN KIEV VL 20€

    LAMB RIBBS VL 25€

    OPTION 3

THUNDER DOG (pork meat) VL 20€

    BLACKFOOT CHICKEN VL 19€

    FILLET MIGNON VL 25€

But we can also just order each something from the menu, in this case it'll probably last longer.

They are open until 12 pm. What do you think?

  12. If I were you I would go and talk to the teacher, extremely politely asking her to show the key. I would also take some good grammar book with me (the samples above are excellent too, but a book has more authority). Again very politely I would try to make the teacher understand that I know what I am talking about.

All this because unfortunately as far as I know the teachers in the Oberstufe do mark the Abitur exams themselves and having a teacher like this makes is virtually impossible to get the mark your daughter obviously deserves.

  13. If I were you, I'd go Deroystrasse to information centre of Finanzamt and ask there, whether I really need a Gewerbeschein for bike couriering.

They might tell you exactly the same as you friends - go to tax consultant. And you just say them that you don't have money to pay tax consultant and they are called information center. This is what I actually did once adding in my broken German, that it is their laws and I just want to pay taxes in this country. In my case the topic was something different, but the guy somehow annoyed went away for a moment and got me a phone number of a person within FA who was later able to reply to my questions.

This is also might be useful:

  14. Are you an English native speaker? Forget about cleaning, you'd be far better off with babysitting or teaching English to kids or adults WITHOUT any German skills. I used to have a great girl coming to play with my son in English and I explicitely asked her to pretend she does not understand German. I know tons of English teachers here who do not speak German at all. Leave cleaning to less lucky ones.
