  1. Coronavirus

Light reading to ease some anxiety.   A world premiere from Erasmus MC and Utrecht University: they found an antibody against COVID-19. The scientific publication of the group of ten scientists is ready for assessment by the leading journal Nature.
  2. What are you listening to right now?

This never fails to raise my spirits. God knows that's needed these days!
  3. Why are you unhappy today?

Feeling your pain, Tor. Best of luck and all that.
  4. What made you smile today?

And this is why dogs beat cats, hands down!
  5. What made you smile today?

It's a good thing Kelly looks like the rest of the other dolphins! If she had somehow visually stood out, she'd be accused of "gaming the system" or "exploiting" the welfare devices of that society!
  6. Severe Weather Warning - Thursday (27.02.20)

To be rinsed of Evil, you need the Winds of Neptune! Perhaps HF99 would like to take the lead?   Munich seems to have dodged the windy bullet though.   @LeonG Glad you made it home safe! Random flying STOP signs can be extremely hazardous to health! @kiplette I hope your OH sees sense soon!;10.42;7&l=wind-900hpa&t=20200210/0900&w=0DAKtpv2A
  7. Severe Weather Warning - Thursday (27.02.20)

Looks like Mother Nature voted against Brexit too!   Hope you're all warm and bunkered up!
  8. What's got you flummoxed today?

The parallel being drawn is the extremely broad brush being used to paint entire groups of people based on terrible, disgusting, fucking stupid shit that callous, misguided people do.     There is more that connects us than divides us. Especially at this moment in time. Let's do better.
  9. What's got you flummoxed today?

The Sun? THE SUN?! That is your gold standard of journalism?!
  10. Finding a truly quiet apartment around Munich

Generally, if you live in an apartment with normal neighbours, then a certain amount of noise is to be expected. Purely physics, in the way sound propagates through solids. Retrofitting soundproofing to a standard you might be satisfied with will be exorbitant. Noise cancellation headphones/ear buds might be an alternative solution?
  11. Do you like living in Germany?

This chap obviously didn't quite enjoy his time in Berlin. Ai Weiwei on his new life in Britain: 'People are at least polite. In Germany, they weren't'   On the surface, he sounds like most TTs who hasn't quite accepted/adjusted to life in Germany. On the other hand, there's the argument that if it requires a decent length of time to feel comfortable in a society, than perhaps there's something within that society that isn't quite right too. Could it just be a quirk of Berlin? Do any of you Berliners recognise the feelings Ai Weiwei describes? On a slightly related note, how safe is Berlin at night for young women?
  12. A gift to a doctor

Gummy Bears are one of the 4 basic food types - the others being carbohydrates, proteins and fats. --- FACT!   If I'm not mistaken, they got rid of flowers/plants in hospitals on the official reasons of preventing infection from soil-borne diseases/water getting funky and allergies. I think, unofficially, it was more to relieve the already overworked nurses from keeping the flowers/plants in good nick or cleaning up after accidents that inevitably happen.
  13. Berlin to get a Tesla Gigafactory

If the Tesla Powerwall was a viable option when I built my house, I probably would have maxed out on the photovoltaic panels.
  14. 2019, an espresso odyssey

Even after all these years, I still...haven't found coffee beans from the shops that I really enjoy. Maybe I don't even know what I really enjoy, but 99.99% of the time I've had coffee from my Delonghi kaffeevollautomat, it tastes rather uninspiring...lots of forgettable "meh" epsiodes. @lisa13If you haven't yet discovered this webpage for self-confessed coffee dorks/nerds/geeks, it might be something to look at?
  15. The New Gillette Social Awareness Campaign

It certainly has! Back in the day, pubes were a badge of "you're a man now my son!" kinda thing... Personally, a little hedge trimming as @alderhill so delicately puts it, is just consideration. No one really wants a mouthful of bristle or a wire brush up their nose. I find the smooth as a baby's bottom trend slightly worrying...almost, dare I say it, paedophillic?
