  1. Moving from private to public health insurance

Hi Starshollow   Is also true if I think of the option "Parental leave + working part time". Why I am asking this because anyway in a Parental leave I have to declare the time duration. What if I only confirm at the beginning that I will only do 1 month of parental leave with part time work(Max 30 hrs/week). My income will surely go down below the threshold. Am I not eligible to move to public then as a compulsory member and continue as a voluntary member from 2nd month onwards.   Thanks for providing so much of information
  2. Moving from private to public health insurance

Hi Starshollow   In one of your post I read I can ask for an Unterstützungskasse and contribute. Could you please confirm if the maximum amount is 392 EUR/month or is there any way to contribute more? By the way does it decrease the gross salary (my understanding is it only lower my take-home salary)?   Also as a second thought, can I go for a parental leave and at the same time work for part time with my present employer(max 30 hrs/week). Will it be considered as a decrease in salary? Can I go for only 1 month to achieve this? Thanks a lot for the valuable answer.

  4. Changing electricity provider

Reactivating the thread. Normally the contracts are of 12 months duration. What if I change the rental apartment during the contract. Do I need to take the provider with me in the new apartment?

  6. Moving from private to public health insurance

Thanks for the explanation. What I understand, even though I am a permanent resident in Germany (holding Niederlassungsarlaubnis) with a permanent German contract, from the insurance point of view I can have this particular expat plan for maximum 5 years and after that I have to change it.
  7. Moving from private to public health insurance

Hi John    So lets clarify the situation. I was in Germany for the first time in 2013 and during then I had a private health insurance, I left Germany in 2014 to Non EU. For the second time I got a permanent position back in the end of 2015 and since then I am in the same job. Because of the fact first time I enrolled for a private insurance I had no option for public in the second time, hence I started as private again. As per the insurance  plan the maximum duration for this particular insurance is 5 years and after that I need to move to other insurance/plan. I still have some time to complete 5 years but I want to start the process now.
  8. Moving from private to public health insurance

  10. Moving from private to public health insurance

Hello Experts   I am reactivating the thread. I am 35 years old and my wife is housewife currently with private expat insurance AXA PPP for last 4 years and I came to know after completing 5 years in Germany I will no longer be treated as an expat hence need to change the insurance type.  My health insurance advisor(appointed by my company) informed me that in order to have the same services like alternative medical cover, sick pay, optics, dental cover, specialist doctor without hausarzt referral, single cabin, chefarzt etc my insurance premium can be doubled. However I can reduce by giving up few facilities like single cabi, chefarzt etc. Currently I am paying as shown below    Me - 336 Wife - 311 Daughter - 173 Long term care - 61 ------------------------------Total 881 Out of which my employer pays me 351 + 30 = 381, Hence I pay 500 from my pocket for my family health insurance. Currently I earn around gross 5500/month which excludes the employer contribution towards heath insurance.   Hence I do have only 2 options either to continue with private insurance with lesser coverage or move to Public by reducing my monthly earning at the limit 5062.5/month only for a month. If I move to Public I will be paying around 426.   Hence could you please suggest what should be done in my situation. P.S. We use the medical facility quite a lot like I have regular medicines, our daughter born with full coverage, medical checkup atleast twice a year to name a few. Thanks for providing your expert comments.
  11. Can you please elaborate why is this a gamble to you. Thanks.
  12. Topics merged by admin   Hi Experts   I am planning to buy an old house from 1963 which is having 120 sqmeter living space in a single floor with undeveloped attic and full basement. The whole property is quite big around 800 sqmeter and the house is situated on the front portion of the land, which gives the opportunity to build something at the back. In fact similar division has been made in one of the plot the same row. 19 is the plot number that I am interested in and you can see the concept in 15 & 15a. I checked with the bauamt and they confirmed that there is no restriction to grow on the top or in the side.  Now the questions - 1. What is needed in order to divide the property and sell the extra land? 2. is it common in Germany to go in a joint venture with a builder who will build a separate house on the land beside the existing house may be with 2 separate floors with his own money and in return he sells one and give the other to you. It looks like 2 is more beneficial for me (if atall it is possible) Thanks for letting me know.
  13. Hi   I am recently planning to buy a single floor house from 1963 where the heating got changed in 2017 to Gas and also the electricity. The hot water now comes under heating. Since the change no one has stayed there regularly and on my request the present owner has created an energy certificate(attached). the rating says G/H. Also I have attached the report after heating change for KFW promotion.   My question is  1. How to read the KFW report  like 22/1550/600 etc. 2. How accurate is the energy certificate given the fact that the usage was irregular after the heating change. 3. How to increase the efficiency of the house 4. My understanding was the heating gets turned off in the summer, if that is the case then what about hot water? In other words is it efficient to put hot water under heating or hot water under electricity is more favourable. 5. The main electricity box has got changed, Please see the photo uploaded in the link. Is it necessary to change the electrical wiring of the entire house. Is there a rough cost estimate to accomplish that?   Below are some facts a.The windows are already double pane wood window. b. Roller shutters are already present. c. The attic is not developed. There are some woolen insulation layed over the floor of the attic and also the inside portion of the roof.   I am not looking for some big renovations. I have added the required files in the Google drive.  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10eSqBABYQDrY8kLhv036RM2rWu_nj5xp?usp=sharing
