  1. First Betriebskostenabrechnung

Hi, I am reviving this topic in hopes that someone could assist: I have received my first Betriebskostenabrechnung for an apartment where I have moved out. The landlord kept 250€ for the Betriebskosten, since this hadn't been calculated at this point. I have proof that he kept this money and that it was towards the Betriebskosten.   Yesterday I received a letter demanding I pay 230€ (not taking into account the 250€ the landlord had kept) within 14 days.   I thoguht that the money he kept for the Betriebskosten would be used towards the Betriebskosten.   We have contacted him, but he has a history of being horrible with replies and phone calls. I don't want to get a bad Schufa because of this, but I also don't want to pay almost 500€ for a 230€ account.   Anyone with experience with things like this?

  7. Company employed with invalid permit and fired afterward

For a moment I thought "Are you a specialty cook" was an insult  Thank you for taking the time and correcting me. I am sure this information will help others who falsely believe the same thing.
  8. Company employed with invalid permit and fired afterward

I thought I cannot apply for a new visa without going back to South Africa. I am restricted to my job and my position. And I cannot apply for an entry visa from Germany. I thought when the Aufenthaltstitel becomes invalid, that I no longer have a valid permit, and since I wouldn't have a valid visa to fall back on that I would need to leave.   If this is not true, then sorry about wrong information. If what I was thinking is wrong, then that's a bit of a relief. I like backup plans and right now there is no backup plan if the current job doesn't pan out.
  9. Company employed with invalid permit and fired afterward

Aufenthaltstitel have restrictions. I, for example, cannot work in another role or at a different company than my current company. If I wanted to find a new job, or even to change my job title, I would need to go back to South Africa and start the process from scratch.

  12. Brexit / Applying for German citizenship

Hi, I use an App called Leben in Deutschland Test. What's nice about it, it runs a test simluator, let's you practise random ones, practise in Categories or according to your mistake statistics. (At least once wrong, mostly wrong, last answered wrong etc)   Maybe this could help with your test practise.

  14. Need an Unskilled JOB ?

Then keep trying. If it doesn't work out the first time, try, try, try again! Start the process again, as many times as you must. Things that are worth having, don't always come easy.
  15. Need an Unskilled JOB ?

This was exactly how I did it as well. Tourist Visa for interviews. Got hired. Came back with a Working Visa. But a good idea would be to start looking for jobs through Monster and Step Stone before coming here, that way you can have your interviews lined up during your holiday.   I don't have an actual recognised degree, but I have 8 years of experience.  I sent out five applications per day. And for each rejection, I would send out one more application the next day. In the end I was sending out more than 10 applications per day. I ended up with three Skype pre-interviews, one of which evolved to a real interview and two real interviews.   So make sure your CV is German-layout ready and be prepared for a lot of rejections. That would be my suggestion. Apply, apply, apply!
