  1. How to pay a BVG fine from abroad

      Exactly, don't do the crime, if you can't pay the fine. Getting checked once in a while is a hell of a lot better than turnstiles. 
  2. You probably won't get an appointment until July anyway. So you can just play it off as waiting time. I tend to think the authorities in Berlin are more flexible than others in Germany, but that's just my personal experience.   Or like dj said, just tell them your wife was living there, and you moved in on xxx date.    Good luck, I'm sure it'll be fine.
