Well it just seems that the SZ is on a roll! And not a Kaiser - unless it's fake as well:   Lidl verkauft jetzt Fake-Fake-Fleisch  Seems that someone is already copying Beyond Meat's veggie burger, and Lidl is selling them for cheap...
  8. What made you laugh today?

Ah! The inimitable joy of using a language generator! The Sueddeutsche Zeitung today reports, " Der Ex-Vizepräsident und die Senatorin behaken sich während der TV-Debatte gegenseitig." So DeepL translates this as: "The ex-vice-president and the senator are hooking up with each other during the TV debate."
  9. What made you laugh today?

Yesterday someone sent me a recipe for Breakfast Doughnuts, with no doughnut in the ingredient list. So what did I look for today when I got this?   And recommended for Kids' Parties, too...

  20. Munich outskirts for family

Both sites are available in English. If you will be here for only one week you won't need any other ones.  This is the city's mass transit website.       If you want the bicycle part, a quick link is:       Plug in you start/destination, and you'll get three suggested routes:  the fastest, the greenest, and for the family. The coolest        part about this (IMHO) is that each route will tell you how many pieces of chocolate's worth of energy you've just spent           biking each route.

  24. Nanaimo Bars

I've found that Speculatius cookies make good substitutes for graham crackers. But, as they're not to be had in summer, here's a recipe for Graham Crackers: I've included the link because I think the explanation leading to the recipe is very good.   For the flour, I use part whole wheat. For the sugar, I like the larger granulate brown sugar, not the heavy fine kind. Here are the metrics: 375g flour 175g brown sugar 1 Teelöffel baking soda (Natron)                                                     Topping: 3/4 Tl salt                                                                                              3 El sugar 100g butter                                                                                           1 Tl cinnamon 115g honey 75ml milk 2 Eßlöffel vanilla (or you can use Vanillezucker, mix it in with the flour)   I found this recipe to be the closest to graham crackers. I usually bake these without the topping, and don't care about the shape, then when they're cooled crush them and store them in the fridge or freeze them. Then I always have them for cheesecake.  Or, to be decadant, pair with a salty cheese ...   p.s. I would not use digestive cookies. They're not sweet enough.
