The point of the vaccination is reducing the chances of dying from Covid.  But some people have different priorities and they care more about going to the cinema without any hassle.

Correct! That is the point of vaccination but it is not really working is it? Hence the need for a test too.

Welcome to the world of adults, paulyg!

I hate it, too. To travel from Israel to Italy I needed: a PCR test to enter Italy, a vaccination certificate to bypass quarantine in Italy, a PCR test to board the aircraft back to Tel Aviv, a PCR test at the arrival in Tel Aviv, 3 days compulsory quarantine (for non vaccinated: 7 days) with police checking your location every day, another PCR test (drive-in or taxi only), then freedom.

This is tough and unfair (the government was panicking and avoiding responsibility, as usual).

What you describe is neither tough nor unfair. Vaccinate your children and then get the green pass for them.

Maybe you missed my point? Vaccinating my children would still require myself to test and when child vaccination is more common place it will be 2G+ for them too. So what is the point of vaccination if it all relies on a final schnell test?

So what fucked your brain up enough to enable you to post such a bollocks line as you did?

I posted a query! Questioning why a test is needed if vaxanted. Neither conspiracy or bollocks. What was your point again?

  4. Why if the so called vaccines work do I also need an extra test to go ice skating with my children? Oh the vaccine has Limited immunity so take a test to see if you are still Negative.

Surely if the test had any worth there would not be any need for the vaccine.

As soon as health services are over stretched, the number of infections is not inconsequential.

In various countries including the UK, people are not getting routine surgery, things like cancer care are not running as they should, etc etc.

2 personal examples - granny of kid#1's boyfriend in UK had a stroke during lockdown 1 and couldn't be admitted to hospital at all. Her GP daughter saved her life and became her carer. At no point were they able to access hospital care due to covid overloading.

    - my sis-in-law died of cancer during lockdown 2 having had massive interruptions to her treatment - of course she may well have died anyway, but this surely didn't help.

If I get sick, I would like a health system which is functioning to deal with my situation.

    Covid is messing that up.

Covid has consequences beyond the death rate. Obviously this is not Ebola (Thank God) but it is causing systemic problems with wider healthcare.

None of this is rocket science.

Personal responsibility is key. Here in Germany, our 'lockdowns' have been mild. Let's wear our sodding masks and keep it that way.

I agree but see my other post. Operations are being canceled to care for Covid patients that do not arrive.

At rechts der Isar, apart from minimal covid patients and a lot of women about to give birth it is empty.

As I said, anyone with an ounce of common sense...

Ok Paddy, send me a PM  and get yourself down to Rechts der Isar and I will meet you outside and gladly show how full the Covid 19 Bereich is. It amounts to 6 people who I would image are 75 plus. We currently have a full maternity ward and accident emergency is taken up by a few but other than that the place is empty!

I am here till 5am, come see for your own eyes!

FFP2 masks worn properly by infected and non-infected person reduce risk of infection down to 1 in 1,000!!

    https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-12-maximum-covid-infection-masks.html

Even ill fitting masks dramatically reduce the risk of infection down to 4% from almost 100%

Common sense told us (most of us anyway) that masks would significantly reduce infection but I never expected the effect to be so emphatic.

  9. Wow, poor bloke getting dating advice from the Toytown over 50s Brigade! He said he was nearly 40, so actually still in his 30s, the prime off his life!

Mate, just go out and meet people! If you have friends go out in a group and there is always another table close by if you choose the right place of the opposite sex. Few drinks and then there will always be inter table chat.

I arrived in Munich as a 36 year old and my first night out was at the Max Emanuel and got talking to a German girl. A few bars in Schellingstraße later the same evening, i could of made other contacts very easily but 9 years later I am married with two kids to the same girl.

    My point? Go out!

Sorry to ask a really dumb question, and this has been covered off already about a billion and one times, but I am still super confused:

    Background –

I am double vaccinated in Germany (BioNtech/Pfizer), with the 2nd in early July.

On 8th September, I plan to fly with Eurowings from Duesseldorf to Birmingham.

    i.e.

    • fly from Germany to the UK,

    • stay in the UK for approx. 2.5 weeks

    • fly back to Germany (directly from the UK)

question is just about tests –

I am clear that I need a day 2 PCR test in the UK, booked in advance, all obvious.

Do I also need a PCR test for flying each way?

Or can I get away with an antigen  / lateral flow test? - I only ask as they are a bit cheaper.

If this is simply too silly to ask, then no worries.

I just wanted to make sure I don’t have any issues / do anything wrong.

All advice definitely welcome at this stage please!!!!!!!!

Your vaccination immunity will be zero, so forget the the rules and stay at home and save humanity!
