9 hours ago, schnellermachen! said:Or am I screwed because of the law saying that all teachers have to pay the DRV?
And what if I get married to my German girlfriend, as this is also an option for me? Will the ABH still hassle me to contact the DRV, or will a lot of my problems then disappear?
Thanks in advance, this forum has really helped me on a number of occasions!
Why do you expect an immigration lawyer to know about the complex German pension system? It doesn’t matter if you are married or not. Contributions are based on your profession and what you do. If you are a teacher you are a compulsory member and have to pay your monthly contributions which is income based. You must send a copy of your tax return to the Rentenversicherungsanstalt every year and they then inform you how much you have to pay for the coming year.
You should have made an appointment at your local Rentenversicherung office as soon as you became aware that you should be paying into the system. The consultation and advice given wouldn’t have cost you a penny. The best thing you can do is come clean and ask if you can pay the money you owe in installments.
"Handwerker, Künstler und Publizisten, Hebammen und freiberufliche Lehrer – so unterschiedlich ihre Tätigkeiten auch sind, eines haben diese Selbstständigen gemein: sie sind gesetzlich pflichtversichert."

I agree with you. Even though your employer may have changed the transfer method, the terms of your contract are still applicable. Ask your bank how long it takes for money to be transferred from a Euro account in the UK to Germany so it is in your account by the end of the month and then inform your employer in writing.
“Under your contract of employment, you have a legal right to be paid on time. If your employer is regularly late when paying your wages and you are still employed by them, you can use a two-stage procedure to enforce your legal right to be paid on time.
First, you should try to resolve this dispute with your employer, by using any internal complaint or grievances procedures that are available (Stage 1 below). Then, if this does not work and your employer is still paying you late, you can make a formal complaint to the Workplace Relations Commission (Stage 2 below).
At both stages, you should use any supports available, such as a trade union or your local Citizens Information Centre”.

The first few weeks of sickness are usually paid for by your employer. After that your Krankenkasse should send your employer a form to fill in about how long you have worked for the company etc and also what you earned each month. You cannot do this yourself. The feedback from this form is used to calculate the amount of money you will receive from the Krankenkasse.
Please check:
Did you send all your sick notes on time to your Krankenkasse?
Has your Krankenkasse sent this form to your employer?
Has your employer received the form and sent it back to the Krankenkasse?
BTW :Please ignore the hurtful statement from TraceKira who has -105 red points. He clearly has no idea about how German Health Insurance works. It is based on a solidarity principle, our monthly contributions go toward people like you who are really ill and need help ( and that is good so) but also to my fat neighbor who smokes likes a chimney and wonders why he is always short of breath.
Apart from the excellent advice others have already given, you could send a letter of complaint to the Manager of your Krankenkasse.
Wishing you all the best and please keep us posted as to how things develop.

I used to donate my old books to a nearby prison. Is there a prison near where you live?
Hospitals usually have a reading corner or something similar.

5 hours ago, treerender said:Finanzamt is asking to audit my August 2019 VAT report and they are asking for invoices. I never sent an invoice to my clients as they don't need them. And yes, I am registered for VAT even though I never paid any VAT because my clients are all businesses outside of Germany and we do everything online. All I can give to Finanzamt is the (online) agreement I have with my clients.
I think you have misunderstood something here. You are legally obliged to issue an invoice to prove that you are doing things correctly, what your clients do with the invoice is their business. BTW: All invoices must be kept for 10 years.
"Mandatory invoice details
Acc. to § 14 VAT law an invoice should contain the following information:
Full name and address of invoicing party and service recipient
Tax number or VAT ID
Invoice date
Consecutive invoice numbers – each invoice number only may be used once
Description of kind of services or amount and kind of delivered goods
Date of service performance, delivery or other services provided (month is sufficient)
Invoice amount: net amount, VAT rate, gross amount"
"Invoices to clients abroad
When you send invoices to clients abroad but within Europe, it should be checked whether the requirements for a tax free intra-community delivery or tax free intra-community service are fulfilled. In this regard it has to be considered whether the invoice is sent to another entrepreneur (so called B2B invoice) or to a private person (so called B2C invoice).
When you send invoices to clients abroad outside of Europe, it also has to be checked whether it is possible to invoice excluding VAT.
In the above mentioned cases it is advisable to check the VAT liability in each single case.”

Have you done your research about when and if you can cut trees?

5 hours ago, lunaCH said:. The bushes block less than 50% of her view in any case as there are two bushes in opposite corners and there is nothing in between them, so the river is still clearly in view from their lounge. I think she wants to be able to see it from her bedroom as again, but to me this a simply a cheek.
My worry for now is only where we stand legally.
If they are blocking light to your neighbours flat, they may have a case.

Secondly we are keeping well within the specified times, i.e. we carry out work from 9.30 until 12 and from 1:30 til 7 pm at the latest.
Nonetheless we still receive complaints from these (our only) neighbours. And they bang on the floor anytime after 5.30 pm, earlier still if it is Saturday.
Are you renovating six days a week? Most tradesman finish work around 4.00 p.m. If your neighbours return home or are at home all day and must put up with the noise you are making until 7.00 p.m. six days a week, can’t you understand why they get angry?

You must register with the Agentur für Arbeit as soon as you realise your contract will be terminated. According to the regulations, three months before your contract ends or within three days of your contract ending if you didn’t know beforehand. Failure to do so means you will not receive any financial support for a certain period of time.
https://www.arbeitslosenselbsthilfe.org/arbeitslosengeld-1-antrag/
https://www.arbeitslosenselbsthilfe.org/arbeitssuchend-melden/
Even if you thought you would begin a new job within 30 days you should have registered with the Agentur für Arbeit for the time in between jobs.
You could register online and make an appointment to explain your situation that you have no income etc. but expect a lot of questions and paperwork.
I am not a lawyer.

Well we now have 33 days to Brexit.
According to the latest Goverment info:
If there’s no deal, UK nationals will not need visas for short stays elsewhere in the EU. You will be able to stay up to 90 days in another EU, EEA or EFTA country, within a 180 day period. You must retain evidence of travel (e.g. train and plane tickets), in case these are requested by national authorities. If you hold a residence permit from an EU, EEA or EFTA country, you will be able to transit through other EU, EEA or EFTA countries to reach your country of residence.
If there’s no deal, the German government has said that you should allow plenty of time when re-entering Germany and make sure that have you have documentation to hand that proves that you are a long-term resident, such as your residence permit, Meldebescheinigung, correspondence concerning social insurance contributions and work or rental contracts.

An Aufhebungsvertrag declares the terms and conditions laid out in a contract of employment to be void unless otherwise agreed upon in the Aufhebungsvertrag. It has to be signed jointly by the employer and employee and basically states that both parties have agreed to the contract being terminated. Employment usually finishes immediately on the day the contract is signed as there is no notice period.
Employers like this as the employee has agreed in writing to the contract being terminated, there is no possibility of the said employee suing the company.
If you then apply for financial support from the state, you will be asked why did you sign when you have no other job to go to. You could have refused to sign and continued to get your salary as stated in the notice period in your contract.
Whatever you do, make sure you get a good reference as you have to show it to each prospective employer here for the rest of your working life.
Read the thread below from Jim Andrews, there is a wealth of information there particularly from Engelchen and Franklan.

I think it is very sad that when two people have an argument or difference of opinion, instead of meeting again face to face and talking things out, the whole issue is posted on the internet and then people take sides and make comments. There seems to be a general lack of respect and understanding when somebody has a different opinion.

Glad to hear that you seem very happy in Ireland.
Have you thought about contacting SOLVIT?
SOLVIT is a service provided by the national administration in each EU country and in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. SOLVIT is free of charge. It is mainly an online service. Although there is a SOLVIT centre in each country, the best way to contact them is via this website.
SOLVIT aims to find solutions within 10 weeks – starting on the day your case is taken on by the SOLVIT centre in the country where the problem occurred.
Unfair rules or decisions and discriminatory red tape can make it hard for you to live, work or do business in another EU country.
So, if you as an EU citizen or business face extra obstacles in another country because a public authority isn't doing what is required under EU law SOLVIT can help.
SOLVIT reminds the authorities in question what your EU rights are and works with them to solve your problem.

When our cat was diagnosed with kidney problems, we were informed that he should only eat special cat food as normal cat food contained too much protein. Our vet give us a prescription for Royal Canin cat food which the vet had in store. Timmy, our cat didn’t seem to like the taste so we changed to Kattovit. Kattovit didn’t seem to appeal to him either so we changed to Hills cat food. He just sniffed at it and walked away. I must say it smelled different to normal cat food and wasn’t as juicy. We were at our wits end so phoned the vet who told us that a lot of cats refuse to eat the special food as it probably doesn’t taste good without protein.
https://www.hills-eshop.de/prescription-diet/katzenfutter/niere/
We then tried a mixture of 75% special food and 25% normal food, Timmy only ate the normal food. We then tried a mixture of 50/50 and again he only ate the normal food. After consulting our vet again we were told before he starves which should give him his favourite food even though this was poison to his system.
BTW: Drogerie Müller also sells Kattovit.
https://www.mueller.de/search/?q=katzenfutter+kattovit&ms=true
I would advise you to buy a small number of cat food sachets in case your cat also refuses to eat the stuff.

Our cat was diagnosed with kidney problems and we were told to give him special food. Royal Canin has a special selection of cat food but it is only available from a vet. Kattovit also has a selection of special cat food which you can buy online.
We also tried the infusion therapy. Our vet showed us how to give him the infusion so we could do this at home.
https://www.kattovit.com/index.php/niere.html
We were very fortunate to have a vet who did home visits as it is a lot of stress to put a cat in a box and transport it to the vets, but sometimes there is just no other way possible.
When the time came to let him go, we took him into the living room and he was put to sleep on our coffee table, in his own home with us by his side. I hope he thought, oh here we go again, the strange person ( the vet) will give me another injection but my family are here with me. Although it was a very sad occasion, it was quiet, very dignified and he was not frightend at all as he had no idea what was going to happen as he was used to the vet coming and examining him.
Wishing you and your cat all the best.
