I got a new card a couple of months ago and it's got a Girocard logo on it instead of the EC card logo. Yesterday when trying to pay at the garage they couldn't read the card. I was fairly sure it was because the magnetic stripe is a bit dodgy and their machine old. They then said that they only took EC card and my card wouldn't work. Is there really a difference? I thought Girocard was just new name for EC card? I looked on some receipts where it's worked and it says Girocard on some and 'Electronic Cash' on others.
I'm a recovering Apostrophe abuser. I apologise to those offended by my many years of abuse. I appreciate it's only a little punctuation mark and really can't defend itself. Article from Wikipedia Anyway, thought I'd start a thread for Green Tea, Leeza and the other Apohstrophe nazis pedants to highlight examples and explain why they are wrong so as to educate the world to their correct usage. Example's please.
