  1. hi all,   i've checked the forums but haven't found anything to answer my specific question. I'm applying for a studienvorbereitungs visa and need a Verpflichtungserklärung from my parents (who live in the states). Anyone here had any experience doing this? Will my parents need to get the Verpflichtungserklärung notarized at the nearest german embassy in america, or is it enough to have the document locally notarized? I'm still embarassingly confused about whether or not there's even a specific form to fill out. If you've ever spoken to anyone here who was somewhat helpful, a phone number would be great. German bureaucracy makes me want to cry. Many thanks.
