  1. friends moving out of apartment

Well, how Trumpian of you. 🤣🤣🤣
  2. Prosecutors say retired NYPD officer beat police officer with metal pole during US Capitol riot     Important note: Webster was dishonorably discharged from the Corps.
  3. What's got you flummoxed today?

My dad always said that an elbow to the throat was the best move.
  4. What's got you flummoxed today?

Well, luckily the knife stays in a closed case and in my purse, which, for the purposes of transporting it under the current law, keeps it in compliance. Men, who do not have the luxury of carrying purses (mostly), are told it must be carried in a zipped compartment of their backpack. I find it all so amusing. Build a law, then build the loophole.   ETA: It is certainly no one-hand knife, although I know men who can open it with one hand easily. It's not a trick I have mastered.
  5. What's got you flummoxed today?

It's under the current 12cm limit for knives of its kind and is carried in a sealed case. But your point is noted.
  6. What's got you flummoxed today?

I think perhaps we have gotten on the wrong track. The man grabbed the door handle and tried to let himself in my car AFTER I had acknowledged him.    His good fortune was that the car door was locked. The only item I had with which to assist myself was my Buck 110.
  7. What's got you flummoxed today?

I was waiting in my car outside my doctor's office today when a man came up to my car and banged on the window. I was not parked incorrectly and was not blocking any cars in. He had on a mask and was trying to speak to me through my closed car window. I was just about to turn on the car and roll down the window WHEN THE FUCKER TRIED TO OPEN MY DOOR! Thank god it was locked. I started screaming at him to go away. He just threw his hands up in the air and got in his car and drove away. I told my doctor and the doc had no idea who he was or what he wanted. I am totally freaked out by this behavior and flummoxed as to why TRYING THE GODDAMNED CAR DOOR OF A STRANGER would ever be okay.   Fucking old white guy with a sense of entitlement to other people's time and attention.
  8. President-elect Joe Biden has big plans. As his presidency moves through its four years, let's talk about the good and the bad of the administration's policies.   To get us started, from vaccines to stimulus checks: here's what's in Biden plan.
  9. Bicycle and car accident

A 27 y.o. cyclist hit me when I was driving a car and he was using the bike path in the wrong direction. Contact your haftpflicht insurer and tell them all the details. They will take it from there. Your daughter will get charged with some of the fault and the driver of the car will get some. Insurance will cover it.
  10. US Presidential Election Fallout

Can you imagine trying to pass yourself off as an intelligent American patriot after vocally supporting Trump? It would be the same feeling Urban VIII would have if he were alive now, just cringing at his own behavior and abject stupidity.    Then again, he would still believe all the rising from the dead nonsense, so maybe he would have no capacity for reflection.
  11. What are you cooking today?

German pork belly comes with some skin on it. Trim that a bit. I found the stuff delicious, but she trims all the fat off a ribeye.🙄
  12. What are you cooking today?

My wife didn't like the choice of pork belly. "Too fatty." Next time, I will dice up a big hunk of pork neck.
  13. What are you cooking today?

That would be hotter, so I'd be careful.
  14. What are you cooking today?

I already baked bread today. Sweet potato whole wheat.    Later today we're having Korean pork belly with dumplings.
  15. A British-style curry for the homesick

Well, apparently self-unaware privilege showed up in the cooking thread. Sorry, I guess I said Candyman too many times.   @Janx Spirit the Salmon curry was great. I made it with green beans and cauliflower. Very tasty. Thanks for adding one to the rotation.
  16. Advice needed: Mannheim VS Munich

I lived in MA with my wife (I'm a woman) for 8.5 years. We chose it over Munich because I don't like big cities.   Surprisingly, MA has one of the largest LGBTQ populations of any city in Germany. There are several bars, restaurants and cafes with decidedly gay clientele, and lots of sports clubs for the community.    You can get 85 sm for around 800€ cold. Lots of parks. Great 4-star restaurants as well as great street food.   Munich seems like a bit of a letdown for the money.
  17. Brexit: The fallout

I've never heard or seen that before and I'm starting to get worried about the company you're keeping.
  18.   If he were AT, he'd know it.   @jifff Talk with the Betriebsrat and tell them what's up.
  19. @jifff Are you a tarif level worker or are you Aussertarif?
  20. Hi @jifff, the most important questions to be answered before anyone here can help you are: How big is the company for which you work? What union, if any, governs your workplace? What kind of contract do you have: normal tariff, AT, befristet, unbefristet?
  21.   Reframe that: Stupid people will risk death for centuries old conspiracy theories and death cults. People dumb enough to have meetings with other like-minded folks to chat with their collective imaginary friends might not be herd builders.
