Intercepted new card letter, my bank account wiped out! Help?
Chelski replied to CBZ's topic in Life in Berlin
Ok, I'll bite but only deal with the opening paragragh. I live in a semi-rural town (pop. 50k) where all the cops speak English. You live in the capital of Germany. I think we need to ask @fraufruit to turn her bullshit detector on. -
Possibly. Elsewhere, there's a proven solution (found in your kitchen draw) for pet-owners and pets, who wish to adopt safety measures to combat ultrasonic interference attempts from govermental, and/or private sector actors.

We are planning to move to Germany from the UK with 15 year old.
Chelski replied to GreenOlive's topic in Munich family life
Eyes better @john g.? Ambulance chaser instincts now turned back up to volume 11? -
Does not compute. Sadly.

It's The Quickening. I predicted this would happen due to the absence of mods. I would suggest everyone delete their profile and log-off as a matter of urgency. Flush, or eat, your smartphone. Unplug all cables related to your Internet and seek sanctuary in a cellar, or under a large, resting giant turtle. THIS. IS. NOT. A. DRILL. Good luck all! Hopefully see you on the otherside...

Unfortunately, today, many people all over the world, have no option other than to live in a polarised society, created by their politicians (elected, or otherwise). Right v Left, Dictator v Jailed opposition etc. You're either with us, or against us. There's no middle ground. There's no room for alternative thought. And that's a great shame. This permeates down from mainstream media, social media and the whackos. Touching on some of the discussion above re Nazis/Alt-right, I'm reminded of an interview Andrew Eldritch (The Sisters of Mercy) gave in 1993. He's a staunch socialist, but still had his wits about him when he said: I'm pretty sure there's a metaphor in there.

Some valid points. From my 25 year experience elsewhere. It's actually flagged up in our rules page. If a mod is talking to a member in their official capacity, they will know. The colour red is involved. I didn't respond to the "who moderates the moderators" comment, as the forum I'm on, is pretty much self-moderating by the long term members. *Admin/Mod team: A list of Admin/Mods openly published on the forum that members can contact with any issues, questions or concerns.

US airforce shoots down Chinese 'spy balloon'
Chelski replied to Wulfrun's topic in International affairs
Maybe, as it was a 'spy' balloon, they didn't actually know when it entered US air space. Personally, they should have shot in down over Wyoming. Even with an eight mile debris trail, the chances of actually hitting anyone on the ground was extremely remote. -
I genuinely think people are getting their knickers in a twist over nothing. I've lived in this God forsaken country for over 16 years, and if one of the natives dares to attempt communication with me in their guttural tones, I simply respond, and enunciate loudly and clearly; "I'm awfully sorry. I'm English. Do. You. Speak. English!" At which stage, they run away like a frightened squirrel when confronted with a 12 gauge buckshot, or modify their linguistic approach to more civilised tones. Can't be doing with all this "Sie" and "Du" nonsense. Certainly not the British way under my watch.

@Metall and @pappnase I find it incredible that TT does not list its admin/mod team. Who do people reach out to if they have a problem on TT? On the rock band forum I moderate on, just the act of signing up generates an automatic welcome message in the new member's PM box. It also lists the admin/mod team to reach out to if they experience a problem. To us (rock band forum) it's just common courtesy, support, and safeguarding our members.

Well, that aged well... Television frontman Tom Verlaine dies at 73 Totally gutted. Marquee Moon is still one of my top 5 albums of all times. One of the greatest guitar solos of all time starts at 4:27 and builds, and builds, and builds. The whole song is worth a listen, as indeed, is the whole album. @mods: I have no idea how to quote from one thread to another, otherwise I would have done so. Feel free to move/delete as you see fit.

It's disturbing viewing. Full video: Multiple camera angles capture fatal Memphis police beating of Tyre Nichols. (I think you all qualify for the above) Without opening a can of worms, I find it difficult to understand why anyone would not comply with a routine traffic stop if they had nothing to hide? Simply hand over your documents, get checked out, and drive home. Alive. Why then resist arrest against five Police officers, run away, and escalate the situation? Death. Again, I'm not condoning the brutality of the MPD, but I am perplexed by the initial reaction of Tyre Nichols to a routine traffic stop.

@jeba and @christine.j That all makes sense now. Thanks for the clarfication.

Jesus. The car was not towed, so no towing fee applies. Who called who is irrelevant. Who pays for something that never happened? Do we now have theoretical fines in Germany? Based on Marx and Engels? The Mods on another (poor) windup. *I'm prepared to be corrected*

Pizza is good. In all Worlds. I'd guess he'd bought a selection of Salami, and veggie? But forgot the stuck-in-my-ways extra special Toytown Arrogance sauce on both. Poor guy.

I'll see your Maddy Prior 75, and raise you a Patti Smith 76. From back in the day... She was a huge soundtrack to my youth, as was Television (Tom Verlaine) for all our American music watchers. Video is a good watch for a rare, and energetic, 25th Floor live.

Agreed. Probably the Mods trying to drum up more click-bait for the advertisers, by setting the pack on each other.

I'm kinda perplexed by this comment; do you actually desire to be a black, 2m tall, pregnant teenager, but acknowledge you can't be a woman in reality? In adult circles, I think it's called role play.

Seems like selected editing. Townsend is there (but not Daltrey 78). Plant is there (but not Page 79, or JPJ 77, who's still going strong with TCV). And why is Jagger there, but not Richards 104? In all seriousness, too many of my idols, and the soundtracks of my youth, have passed away in the last couple of years. It'd be great to see the same list in 2024 with everyone +1.

Strangeways.

I'm sure we all agree anybody can be whoever they want to be. I have no problems with that, but some people will always attempt to manipulate the system. That's why there needs to be safeguards. For everyone, regardless of gender. Transgender rapist Isla Bryson moved to men's prison

Just saying like.

Jesus. I'll choose my words carefully. Forgiveness is a virtue. It is a positive virtue to have, and to hold. In real life. However, we're not dealing with real life. We're dealing with keyboard warriors who have no real life. Their life is TT. Where virtue is a non-existent word. And that's the sadest part. For them. I have no connection to the person banned/re-banned but I have been following the story. The way it was handled doesn't paint TT in any glory. If anything, it has shone a negative light. As I said above, forgiveness is a virtue, and some people need to look in the fucking mirror.

I was originally gonna post 'when The Pixies were good' which would have been a massive faux pas on my part. I obviously meant 'when The Pixies were younger'. All the guys have hair and Kim is as drunk as fuck. Classic Pixies.

I can always remember myself (6) and my brother (8) getting matching pairs of boxing gloves for Xmas. Maybe my parents, back then, where ahead of the curve re 'brotherly love'.
