  2. What's the issue with dual nationality?

I am happy to do just that!

  4. Buying a rented apartment

Really interesting topic. It is a little old, but I´ve got the main idea if you want to buy it in order to live in it must be empty and not rented. In case it is already rented better forget it...sad but true
  5. What's got you flummoxed today?

It was different at school, Luke😂!
  6. BREXIT positives and negatives

By "the real World" I mean how other countries respond to this go it alone insular policy, not the minds of some UK voters, many of whom are deluded enough to think Britain doesn't need the help of any of their neighbours or their markets. .    As far as Labour is concerned, the last I heard Starner speak he seemed very timid about even mentioning the word Brexit. Yet sooner or later, they will have to face up to the common denominator causing so many of the current probems facing the UK.
  7. 3G in Restaurants?

Hm... your English is excellent... though with the typical modern English native speaker apostrophe abuse in your posts. And you must be fairly young because an older person would spell apartheid... erm.. as apartheid. I've never seen your " variant " ( Covid joke😂) of the word! Ok, own up! Wo kommst Du her? Germany or Nottingham?😂
  8. Only in America No, not only in America but it's what English speakers read mostly. This poor man finally getting justice- but no State help. Thankfully, help from kind fellow citizens and modern technology.
  9. How and when did you learn German?

I failed to learn it. Before my transfer to Germany, I was promised German language lessons by my employer, but it soon went from "we will look at this in the next financial year" to "Your work environment is strictly English language, no business justification for this outlay" to "None of your colleagues are sensitive about language, maybe it would be best for your health if you were working in a country where English is an official language..."   I did try Babel, but it just didn't work with my Aspie brain. I was able to ask where things were in shops, order things in restaurants, ask if I could pay with card, but that was about the limit. If I visited the bank or post office and survived with broken German, then I felt I'd achieved something
  10. Germany to legalize recreational cannabis use

As sad as it sounds, my first thought on reading this is to head over to Peter Hitchens Twitter feed to see if he's gone in to one of his mega-sanctimonious the end is nigh sermons about this.
  11. Conspiracy theorists

Yes, people are dumb enough to make up that shit. Others are dumb enough to believe it.   Seriously, I've only heard of rabies vaccines being dropped out of planes in problem areas.
  12. What are you watching right now?

I thought the first episode was excellent - but the next three are even better. Can't (but have to) wait for more.
  13. What made you laugh today?

I don't know this series Yes, Dear , with Chuck Norris , or even if it is or was a series but I stumbled across it! Great!😟

  17. Thanks for your help! Alas, the new rule as of 5 p.m. means we can't go. But at least now I've sorted out how it works
  18. How to get rid of construction waste?

Sperrmüll means "awkward waste" and they mean stuff like sofas and beds. There's no mention of mineral building waste which I don't think they would collect. Either you find a "man with a van" to take you and your waste to the Recylinghof or you hire a skip (Containerdienst). For the latter you'd be looking at €140 for a 3m³ skip. If you can drive you could hire a van yourself of course :-)
  19. To save the emergency services having to scrape you off the road. But when you only think of yourself, making things worse for others doesn´t matter.
  20. What made you smile today?

  21. Paypal question

Thanks. I already saw that. Can't be arsed. Read - too lazy.   Mind you, if I thought I had money on my account, I would definitely do it.   Based on their customer service and many comments that I have Googled, they probably wouldn't get back to me anyway.
  22. I read this here  BMI - Constitution - Information for UK nationals and their family members about the right of residence provided for in the Withdrawal Agreement (   "The right of permanent residence under the Withdrawal Agreement arises according to special rules, not according to the rules of the right of free movement. The following applies: In principle, five creditable years of residence in Germany are required; periods spent in other EU member states do not count. There are some exceptions, which are listed below. Only periods of residence by persons with the right of free movement will be counted. Periods of residence on another basis (for example, third-country nationals with a residence permit under the Residence Act (Gesetz über den Aufenthalt, die Erwerbstätigkeit und die Integration von Ausländern im Bundesgebiet) are not counted. Creditable times of residence before and after 31 December 2020 are added together. You also have a right under the Withdrawal Agreement if you completely fulfilled these periods of residence at some previous time, but left Germany less than five years before 31 December 2020. In this case, it is not necessary for you to be living in Germany on 31 December 2020 in order to assert this right. However, your right of residence under the Withdrawal Agreement expires on the date when you have no longer been living in Germany for five years, even if this date is after 31 December 2020. If you interrupted your residence in Germany and none of the cases described above applies, the counting begins again from the beginning. Periods of residence before such an interruption cannot be credited later, even if you return to Germany. Permanent residence status can be acquired after the required five-year residence period on or after 1 January 2021." Hope this helps
  23. Buying property in Germany - Transferring money from US

The first step "Anzeige der Schenkung" is simply you telling the Finanzamt of the gift, e.g. by e-mail.   And then the Finanzamt will tell you - if you have exceeded the 400,000€ tax-free limit - to file the gift tax return by sending you the gift tax return forms, which you would then have to fill in, sign the tax form and send it back to the Finanzamt. They will then process it and will issue a Bescheid.  In this Bescheid, they will tell you how much gift tax you owe and the payment deadline which is: date of Bescheid + 1 month + 3 days
  24. Purchasing equipment before formation of Company

    expenses are deducted against profits.
  25. Travel to the US and back.
