  6. Not only those with children, dear katheliz..though very important. EVERYBODY in Germany needs it -cycling down the road  and you run someone over - you bump into someone in the supermarket and they fall over and break their leg etc And worldwide stuff 24 hours a day, People living in Germany- by this I mean naive expats - really need to understand how " heavy " this stuff is. You risk bankruptcy and why? German law and the unwillingness to pay 80-100 euros  a year to lessen the risk... i hate feeling like a scummy insurance salesman---( which I´m not ) and this type of contract is hardly worth the effort but it´s the way it is--I´m an older guy now and know how easily mistakes can happen...

  12. Worst jokes ever

I have cited this TRUE story many times on TT before but I still love it! Welsh businessman went to Glasgow about ten years and gave a presentation to a group of Glaswegian businessmen. He started:  ladies and gentlemen, what is the difference between the mafia in New York and the mafia in Glasgow?     Audience shocked into silence...   He decides to help them out.. " the difference is: in New York the mafia make you an offer you cannot refuse..in Glasgow the mafia make you an offer you cannot understand "...     I rest my case...
  13. Jokes

Steve is shopping for a new motorcycle. He finally finds one for a great price, but it's missing a seal, so whenever it rains, he has to smear Vaseline over the spot where the seal should be.  His girlfriend is having him over for dinner to meet her parents. He rides his new bike to her house, where she is outside waiting for him. "No matter what happens at dinner tonight, don't say a word." She tells him, "Our family had a fight awhile ago about doing dishes. We haven't done any since, but the first person to speak at dinner has to do them."  Steve sits down for dinner and it is just how she described it. Dishes are piled up to the ceiling in the kitchen, and nobody is saying a word. So Steve decides to have a little fun. He grabs his girlfriend, throws her on the table and has sex with her in front of her parents. His girlfriend is a little flustered, her dad is obviously livid, and her mom horrified when he sits back down, but no one says a word.  A few minutes later he grabs her mom, throws her on the table, and does a repeat performance. Now his girlfriend is furious, her dad is boiling, and her mother is a little happier. But still there is complete silence at the table.  All of a sudden there is a loud clap of thunder, and it starts to rain. Steve remembers his motorcycle. He jumps up and grabs his jar of Vaseline. When he witnesses this, his girlfriend's father backs away from the table and screams, "Okay, enough already, I'll do the dishes!"

  20. And he wonders why they are coming?   I guess he expected them to spend all of that aid money on their own border protection to keep people in instead of on the poor and infrastructure.       Snap but a decent follow-up. BTW, Fox News calls the Hondurans "an army".
  21. Mail forwarding

Well, when I took and attached the above screenshot, I didn't mean to say that I am going to select option as per screenshot i.e. "Without removal notice".  I am sorry if that wasn't clear.   My question has been answered by someonesdaughter who used service before so its good now. Thanks all.
  22.   If you signed a contract that included specification of supervisory time to do that, and they did not, then of course you may well have redress.  Ditto in respect of the quality etc of what you bought and normal duties of care and such.   Just normal contract-type law.   So you perhaps need to look closely at the contract specification of what you bought, plus specifically what was said about sub-contracting and such, may not be so easy for rest of us to say.   I completely agree the above.  Do not pay more.    It's good that you have a trail of notifications, including photos.  Keep taking them.   What you describe is quite typical here.  It's only ever poor foreigners that built and decorated our properties -  North Africans, Southern Asians, the occasional eastern European etc.  That's who that labour force largely is (or as you say, you contract to pay trained local professionals several times more).  I would also say to try and strip out the main things.  Delivery dates often do slip a bit, I'd take that as normal on this sort of work, not sure I ever had anything bang on time.   It's the appropriate quality that is ultimately what counts, although of course there's a knock on time impact when it's not done to standard when incorrectly described as "completed".
  23. Really! Hope, you are in Germany. Also, Germans are known for their diplomacy. I experienced this again and again for more than 10 years. In academia, the Prof-s are known for lack of their straightforward characters. I think, I don't need to tell about the corporate sector
  24. Generali Vision can't charge when cancelling early

Hi @exchinapat,   Last week my policy was held to maturity. The loyalty bonus was then credited to my plan but also MORE than offset by the final fees, as you already pointed out.   Some time ago I wrote the law firm (https://www.mattil.de/de) recommended by @Starshollow, at least to know what options I would have - if it all - but they didn't even bother to reply. Lo and behold, I just requested to start the full surrender procedure and am currently waiting to hear back. I would be interested in knowing more about the complaints and appeal process you went through, perhaps we could get in touch via private message or email?
